Disappearing messages

I was chatting with someone and all the messages to and from them disappeared from my inbox. Does this mean the deleted their account or blocked me?

If all messages have disappeared they have left the site. If they block you, you're still able to see the messages just not view their profile.

Thanks. When someone left the site their messages used to stay in your inbox but it would indicate that they'd left. It was suggested to me that because of gdpr their messages now get deleted when they leave as it all counts as data.

For the last year when someone deletes their profile their messages go with them.
