I don't really go for pc when it comes to comedy and it's jokes and meant to be funny and just that a joke. You go to a comedy show not expecting a drama but jokes. Thats all they are. But some of those Guys like Bernard Manning etc weren't joking at all, thats how they really felt. But not to get off topic. Because most of the people I named are VERY far from PC.

Dave Chapelle (G.O.A.T) no one will ever surpass his intelligence of world view, his genius for sketch shows and his thought process of how to do stand up and for how much of a great human being he is.

A short version of a story from Kevin Hart.....

"At a comedy show and met Chris Rock we had a chat and said we both had some new material we were going to try both told each other yeah that was pretty good we were both laughing our asses of at each others sets....We went to the Green Room and there is Dave Chapelle...."Dave, what the fuck!?"....Hadn't seen the guy in I dunno how long!!

"Dave you going on?".

"Nah man I'm just chilling"

"Come on Dave, you gotta go on"

"I dunno, should I?"

I run out out cause people are starting to leave, "Hey everyone come back Dave Chapelle is in the house and he's coming on, people start hurrying back.

So Dave goes on and me at Chris Rock are standing at the back. Dude was on 40 minutes and killed it, unrehearsed and no prepared material, 100%!! And without saying anything to each other, we didn't even LOOK at each other, we took out our material, balled it up and threw it away! Nuff said

Re: Billy as OP said, I used to think that until I got to see him live and was completely disappointed. It was around 2006 and I think his illness was taking hold a bit though. I still love watching his odler stand up and new tv shows(the travel type shows).

I think my favorite stand up is Lee Evans. I love the insanity and energy of his shows plus he usually does a great little musical number at the end which is a nice change.

Most of my favorite stand ups though are the horrible harsh gits that don't care who or what they insult...so quite different to Lee Evans Jim jeffries used to be great. I managed to see him on tour around the time of his contraband show but then he got sober and wasn't as funny, then he went to America and became worse because he had to be a bit PC for them. If anyone likes this type of comedian(Jeffries, Frankie Boyle, etc) then check out a Canadian called Mike Wilmot. He's ridiculously funny. I've managed to see him live twice and my jaw and stomach ached for days after I laughed so much.

From local comedians Tommy Tiernan has got to be the best. Loved watching his shows on tv and stuff years ago and then got to go and see his Crooked Man show which was so bizarre and funny. He's the only comedian I've seen live that made the audience laugh by saying nothing....bit like the late great Tommy Cooper! Jason Byrne is also brilliant live, bit like Lee Evans the insanity he puts into his shows just tickles me. Andrew Maxwell is great too.

A comedian I recommend NOT to go and see is a Scot called Daniel Sloss. You get about 30-45 mins of comedy followed by nearly hour of being lectured that r@pe is bad Absolutely dire show, I felt like asking for a refund even though I won the tickets.

I know he’s already been mentioned but if you are talking about just pure stand-up not a comedy actor it has to be Richard Pryor, greatest of all time, really sad how he ended up with MS but he was a genius.
