Yeah agree. Timing not great as am pretty sure Farrell and co were hoping he part of team for France 2023. Now they have only have two years for someone to come in to be ready for 2023. Good for him to leave with brain and body intact. ??

Great servant of Ireland and Munster, 51 caps for Ireland and never gave less than 150%,took some knocks in his time, at 31 years old and a young family he made the right decision, he owes nobody is rugby anything and will leave with his head held high

Big loss to Ireland however he should never have played for the Irish national team as he is South African.. The residency rule when stander arrived in Ireland was something riculous like a year if even now it's 3 years should be 5 imo.. Our own Irish born talent needs to be priority over a foreigner just trying to make a quick buck then away back home when hes finished regardless of how good they are.. Stander was told he was too small for the South African team and would never be picked.. He arrives in Ireland and waltzes into the national team..

Signed for Munster June 2012 and made debut for Ireland in Feb 2016. I’m not saying I agree with the residency rule but he certainly gave as much as anyone else for the green shirt in the past 5 years. Sorry to see him go.

not even Irish, part of a team that has failed at every single attempt to get past the quarter final of the world cup since its inception!!!, part of a massive group of under achievers that Irish sport has witnessed.
