When it arrives it will be slowly unfurl like an umbrella and be able to see further back in time, to the cosmic dawn, 200 mn years after the big bang. It may also possibly discover habitable new exoplanets in the Goldilocks zone.
We live in a habitable goldilocks zone around our own star, the Sun.
Ten thousand people have been working on this project for decades; good news that the Ariane 5 launch vehicle (rocket) did not explode on takeoff from Kourou.
The James Webb will replace Hubble, that was initially such a disaster, but was successfully fixed by Storey Musgrave, a US astronaut, who was massively academically qualified in many subjects, but is retired. |

I specifically wanted to get a response to determine whether any other fabbers have an interest in this esoteric scientific subject, that the vast majority of the general population have no interest in, no awareness of and no knowledge of, even in the very broadest terms.
The James Webb is by a long chalk the most important, most expensive and the riskiest telescope ever conceived an built.
It will be in an orbit 1.5 million miles from Earth; it can never be repaired!

Ive got some :
1. I have 14 scars on my leg from 3 surgeries this year
2. I can make my bottom lip touch my nose
3. I have a perforated septum
4. I can put both my legs behind my head
1 of the above statements isnt true the rest are |

Never did i think when creating this thread that somebody would be so open and brave about such a personal subject. Thank you for sharing and it has just made me realise that you never truely know what another person is going through. We all have something to contribute to this crazy world, the sooner we all realise it and be that little bit more considerate to each other the less we are gonna make others feel like they dont deserve to be here. |

Ya know what I read some of them comments and I’m going to get some things off my chest, might seem OTT but hey if it helps me it’s worth it?????
1- I’m a suffer of PTSD from being accused of something I had nothing to do with over 4 years ago, from that there’s depression and serous anxiety, on more than one occasion recently I have thought about ending it all but the only thing that’s keeping me going right now is the car I’m building ?????
2- I’m crazy into modified cars and drifting (well known from my mates but I try to avoid talking about it on here ?? |

Speaking of axes. Once was on a camping trip and wanted to gather wood from a felled tree. No one would trust me with the axe and was not allowed to have it.
They trusted me with fire, their food, their personal belongings, a saw, but for some reason they all opposed me having the axe.

The loss of life is a tragic thing. It ripples out and effects all around.
Most who go of suicide cannot see this.
I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Something else I’ve just thought of… when I was finally brave enough to speak to a doctor about my depression I broke down in tears, the doctor asked me the usual questions and then said “by the way I see your a bit heavy you might want to loose some weight” I walked out of the room and almost took the door with me…
