So what's your memories as a child and a teenager of Halloween
Normally this close to go as a teenager I'd have been taking pallets from all the local factories to build a bonfire
Lot of work in that
As a child...black bin bag ...cheap clown mask ....knocking on doors....help the Halloween party...if you were lucky ....some sweets...if you were unlucky ...monkey nuts or even worse ....Brazil nuts
Now.....absolutely no nuts
Do you get bags of sweets ready and eat them yourself when the knocking stops on your door
Yet another thing the kids missed during covid....good to see it back

Fireworks were illegal.
Bonfires not allowed for obvious reasons where I grew up.
Never did door to door or dressed up.
The only memories I have are dunking for apples and coins or tying one to the doorframe and trying to bite it while blindfolded. |

Making bangers with my brothers.... Wrapping caps round 2ps and throwing them on the ground.
Or putting a needle through the caps and attaching them to a bengal match.
Essentially making a whole stash of them!
Some trick or treating but don't think we were big on getting dressed up. |

Trick or treating wasn't really done by us as kids but we'd get the odd few calling at our door. Maybe 6-10 tops.
Never had a party until my uncle had kids then he started a small one. He'd get the super exciting indoor fireworks. The one's that look like a pill is turning in to a poo  lol
Apple bobbing and trying to get a bite of one hung on string from the door frame.... and that was it. Apple tarts with coins wrapped in greaseproof paper hidden in the filling ready to break a tooth on.
I started having parties when I had kids. They get to go trickortreating on Halloween night. They love the dressing up  ....almost as much as the grownups
I always have it on Halloween night no matter the day of the week but lots around our way do it on the Saturday closest. Seems wrong to me, I mean you don't move Christmas day to the weekend |

Where I come from there was no Halloween. Over the last years consumerism marketing has drummed up a 'tradition' of celebrating Halloween. Some kids go now trick or treating but they say 'Süsses or Saures' which translates to 'sweet or sour'.   |

Much the same as Reality and I remember we had sparklers. Loved the homemade apple tart and if you were lucky you got a slice with money in it.....5p got you a lot of sweets then! Lol

I live in the countryside and Halloween was brilliant craic.
We had all the black bags, plastic masks and the rest but the best craic was our neighbours making us work for our treats and ask for a trick so we'd have to sing songs and tell jokes |

Knock at the knocker ring at the bell please give us a copper for singing so welll singing so well...
Bin liners makes fights for the barn brack and fights in general as there was always someone cheating biting the apple in the water
No food allergy gluten free shite then or adhd diagnosis ...load em up.with sugar and have a buzz |

If you were lucky, you'd get some random concoction of face paint too!
There was always some fucker in our estate who'd give you fruit though 
Great memories of collecting for the bonfires, wars between neighbouring estate and raids on each others stashes !
Coming home covered in muck and swearing you weren't in the fields looking for wood.

I loved Halloween as a child. We went trick or treating dressed up in home made masks and whatever else we could find to make an outfit. Usually got chocolate or money and had a good laugh. We had to walk a fair bit though as we lived in the countryside. But it was always good harmless fun.

Pretty much what RB said above, it wasn't a big deal at all.
Normally I don't do anything since my kids got older, thus year I think I'll sit out on my new patio and get smashed by the fire pit, it's been a bitch of a few weeks |

The same plastic mask year in year out til we got too big to wear them, black bin liners on over our coats, granny spending all day making apple fadge, bobbing for apples then down the road to watch the bonfire and getting a sparkler. Old fellas telling local ghost stories and scaring us so much we couldnt sleep  |

Ah I remember the days of black bin bags and one pound plastic masks.
I always felt it went by too quickly.
When I got older I did try setting up Halloween parties with some a group, where we would watch Halloween appropriate movies and eat & drink. Sadly it only lasted 2 years. |

I remember collecting pallets and we'd a fairly big bonfire in the white heather industrial estate.
We were drinking cans of beer , one of the lads thru in a tin of baked beans which exploded everywhere.
We were probably around 13 at the time .
Always think of that memory around Halloween |

We didn’t do the bonfire on Halloween,we were too conscious of the damage that was being done to the environment.
All jokes aside much the same as above but without the bonfires,that was done in June down this neck of the woods

Was never a big fan of Halloween but like most here ,it was homemade outfits ,.and plastic masks that near suffocated you !
Best thing about it was watching my mum making the toffees apples and then eating them !
My poor teeth couldn't handle that stuff now |
