Meta AI chat appeared on WhatsApp, I've deleted it but the meta AI search is still there, can't be deleted!! I've deleted the meta chat on WhatsApp, I've no interest in Artificial Intelligence!! Google knows enough about me as it is!! I'm not on Facebook or Instagram which meta, it says, it follows you on like Google follows you!
What does everyone think of AI? Do you agree with it or not? If yes, why do you agree with it and what is it's uses?

2 weeks ago in work I got chatting to 2 women from Farranree in Cork
Never met them before and haven't been to Cork by car in a few years
Got to go home after work and my sat nav automatically set Farranree as my destination
My phone was in my pocket talking to the ladies and I wasn't using Google maps as my sat nav but the VW sat nav in the car

When it appeared on my WhatsApp I googled to see how I could turn it off and everywhere I looked said the opt out date had passed and it was no longer able to be deleted.
I have 2 issues with this.
I had never heard of it until it appeared on my phone so there was no communication beforehand asking if I wanted to opt out.
Secondly, I have 2 numbers on my phone, a work one and a private one and a WhatsApp option for both.
Meta AI only appears on one so what's the difference?
I was never given the chance to opt out on either number. They are both on the same dual SIM phone so it's not a software issue. |

Yes, it didn't give me an option to accept it or not, not happy with that. I immediately deleted the WhatsApp meta AI chat, at least that was something I suppose!! But now it's on the WhatsApp search section and on the Dropbox, you can so easily click on it by mistake so I have to watch that!!  |

Bit of a cheeky move by Meta. Fact is after investing billions in development they haven't figured out how to get people to use their product so not they are forcing it on us.
As for my opinion on AI in general I like it and use it every day. I use it as a personal assistant to improve my life in measurable ways. |

It appeared as part of a solo chat on WhatsApp...... It asks you if need an assistant to answer a question you may have. I deleted it without going into the chat otherwise I'd be stuck with it! But it's part of the search section of WhatsApp of which can't be deleted.... |

Okay, I'm not a fan of AI, I usually say so on the forums but when did the conspiracy of "your devices steal your information" finally become acceptable? This has been happening for at least a decade. Arguably the only reason LLMs have been able to develop so fast is because we have been giving our data away for a decent length of time. Almost everything a data broker would want to know is currently available to them. Again, not a big fan of AI but it's like complaining about water being expensive 10 years after it being privatized. Sorry if I sound mean but it's so depressing. |

Hence the GDPR legislation. In addition writers have expressed valid concerns about LLM's harvesting their works without either seeking permission or paying for it.
However I do use AI occasionally for productive or frivolous use so it's a tool like anything else. The Meta AI inserting itself into WhatsApp reminds of the U2 fiasco in iTunes years ago. When an album was downloaded to your device without permission. It is a permission issue.

Certainly the odd bit of personal but understood use of AI isn't an issue. Where I draw the line is smarmy cunts like Simon Harris using AI to "steal" art. AI isn't being used to relieve mundane work (self checkouts are not AI), it's being used to replace arts and creativity. The saddest part is that nobody can care long enough to even resist. Maybe if they make a TV show about the dark side of data privacy, people might complain for another week. |

Same here with the 2 numbers on one phone. Took a while but meta ai installed itself on the second version of WhatsApp yesterday. I have automatic updates turned off so this was forced on to my phone without my knowledge or permission. It's disgraceful. |

I think we are already seeing ridiculous articles on face book written with AI that have errors and incorrect photos etc . It's going to taint real accurate news broadcasting so we won't know what to read let alone trust. How long before AI is writing FAB profiles and being used for messages referencing things in women's profiles and thier photos. ! |

No, I'm saying it went to the drop box menu on the bottom of WhatsApp, above where the select contact box is!! It's the short option thingy to add in a new contact, create a new group!! I called it Dropbox because I don't know what to call it lol!! |
