Golfers wear golf clothes

Divers wear dry suits

Cyclists wear wear Lycra, it's functional not fashion I guess

It would be different if someone were out walking the dog everyday in cycling Lycra I suppose

Fine if its proper cycling but not for a leisurley cycle. Cycling for about 4 miles but needing to dress like Lance Armstrong...i find that embarrasing.

Yes.

Why do you think the left push cycling so much?

They don't care about the environment or traffic congestion it's clearly an indoctrination

And even worse when the lycra is top to toe in advertisements like their career depends on it.

I've no issues if they're wearing it for the reason of their desired sporting activity. Other than that I couldn't care much.

No issue with them, do what you want to do etc. I do think they sometimes get a hard time on the roads though

They look great, they'd look better if they followed the rules of the road and ride properly and let people pass them out not, 3-4 wide cycling with a sense of entitlement.....they look good though

I was out for a spin around the wicklow hills today's and while I see the attraction for some, I certainly don't feel in anyway hot wearing my gear.

It is kinda funny to see the odd passer by do a bulge check when I stop for coffee

4 or 5 hours in the saddle and then you would understand why the shorts are a good idea.

It's strictly functional

Cyclists riding 3-4 wide is no different to passing a slow moving vehicle like a tractor. If you can't negotiate that safely maybe reconsider if you should be driving ?

Also they say they don't because if they are single file they get overtaken by fukwots with traffic coming the other way so fukwots not giving safe clearance.

Most of them have cameras now so dont be a dick

Do you get embarrassed by people wearing lycra when out for a jog? Is there a certain length or speed of jogging for which lycra can be worn without embarrassment?

Do you get embarrassed by the more than half of the female population wearing lycra in Lidl or Tesco?

WTF does it matter what anyone else wears for exercise or any other activity?

It’s the best gear for riding a bike, it’s neither here nor there that it turns me on!

Lycra is most definitely a must when I’m out on the road from leggings on the winter to shorts now and always without boxers, as for does it make me horny, it’s definitely yes.

Ya, definitely helps with aero. I get the faster stuff out for this time of year.

The crazier the design the better (of course it must also match my bike)

To be honest, I see very few guys in Lycra cycling that would in any way tickle my fancy. I’d rather (in 99.9% of the cases) wish they’d wear something baggier. But that’s just me 😏

I don't know why you've singled out just guys in lycra. There's lots and lots of women out cycling in lycia too but you've not given them a mention. Is it just because women look better or are more appealing to you ? To me is just functional clothing for the activity they are participating in. Like if a fella or a woman rocked up to church for 12 o clock mass in their full lycia, then maybe I could see issue with it but other than that I don't see any problem.

I singled out men because the post was about guys in Lycra 🤷🏽‍♀️. Furthermore, I’m not interested in women so they could walk around naked for all I care and I wouldn’t even spare them a look. I hope that clarifies it.

Obviously, people can wear what they want to do whatever they want. But the OP asked, so I gave MY perspective on the topic.

The West

Got me thinking about this country and our wider approach to clothing. Like, in general Irish people are pretty fucking stupid when it comes to clothing.

We live in a coldish, wetish climate yet very few people have the correct clothing for different times of the year. They will have whatever is in fashion, but they won't have what the weather conditions require.

People go to the gym lifting weights in off the shelf runners for style purposes, not for the task at hand.

We're surrounded by water, many won't go in because it's "too cold", but wouldn't just buy a wetsuit.

We must be one of last few countries on earth that wonders about people wearing cycling clothing when they're out cycling a bicycle?
