They have specific websites on a list of banned words just like other ones that you’ll be notified that you can’t use. It’s not like someone is sitting there reading your messages watching for you to mention something.
I assume it was set, particularly in the early days, so that people couldn’t be directing them to use those sites instead of here.
Usually it’s a very short ban afaik |

Yes, that’s how I remember it working. Maybe they were banned from sending that message rather than banned from messaging.

I can understand why the site bans you for mentioning other sites or messaging services, but as you know, theres ways arond it!!
Regarding being banned due to being reported by a fellow fabber, there should be a mediation between the admin and the account that accused you of something.
Not a straight away ban. |

I'm sure one of the mods will jump in here to say that there is no such thing as an immediate ban.
They have always said that nobody on fab can get another member banned. Only their own words and actions can do that which from what I've seen over the years is pretty true. |

How are ppl getting away with bullying others via private mail ?
If they can ban to protect their brand.

As far as I remember a moderator explained that the automatic bans for using the wrong word in a private message are automatically applied
The mods don't read messages except if someone creates a report in the first place |

It automatically starts recording your conversation. I don't see why it's difficult to believe that's how they catch criminal gangs, drug deals, those sorts of things. |

As I say, I don't think anyone is listening there are just certain words that trigger (then) a tape."
Now I think of it there's an episode of Shameless where they end up getting a bust from the armed police because someone says something in the phone about getting "RICE-IN" (for a curry) but it's picked up on the phone and recorded. |
