I know its a bit morbid of a Wednesday morning so Im apologising upfront for this one...
People who passed away during Covid lockdowns or restrictions. Due to covid related issues, or natural causes but we couldn't day goodbye to them properly. I think everybody lost somebody or knows somebody who passed away in the years of that historic worldwide pandemic that will be written about in future history books. Yet, it was only 5yrs ago when it all kicked off on 12th March 2020. I know that date as it was my birthday & I had just pulled.my son from school as he has major health issues...2 hrs later the government announced lockdown & thankfully I had already forseen what was coming with panic buying & had stocked up.
My childhood / adulthood best friend, Rosie, died alone on her kitchen floor during lockdown & lay there for nearly 2 days. it took nearlyv3 weeks for postmortem because she tested positive for covid. All that time & when she finally got home, we were not allowed ro touch her, or be in room with her body without masking up... This massively effected me mentally & I still have guilt about it today as I feel I let her down in not being able to give her a hell of a send off. It really consumes me sometimes & cuses episodes of anxiety & depression.
I know this is in now way a sexy question but is anyone else put there suffering from the Covid pandemic? health wise, guilt wise, trauma wise??? Does anyone actually talk about these things or Am I just like a man in a lighthouse here
...out on my own!??
You dont have to reply publicly or even reply at all if you are suffering.... just please know you are not alone xx

Definitely a crazy time. Sorry you had such an awful experience especially loosing your friend in such awful circumstances. Someone close to me still has lasting health issues … not sure we’d all get through it again .. |

No, you are certainly not alone in this. As you said many people lost someone during this time but were not able to mourn the loss in the usual way.
I was lucky in that I didn’t lose anyone during this time but my own anxiety did flare up and took me a good few years to get it back under control after the pandemic and to be honest I still do t think it’s back to pre-lockdown levels. |

I was a frontline healthcare worker during this time with stage 3 cancer going through a martial breakdown. I don’t think I’ve ever really gotten over it. I had to do it all by myself. On the positive side, I changed career, got divorced and am cancer free. Covid left lots of us with lasting scars. |

THANK YOU for sharing that private information, I live with anxiety & depression & its not always easy to admit to it or 'own it'.. the only way this changes & the stigma fades is by courageous people like yourself talking about it so thank you xxx Pinks |

Both of us where in unusual positions at the time.
I know he was covered to travel Ireland under DAFM laws and I worked in a care home that unfortunately had a large death rate.
I know he told me gave loads of haz mat suits to people to go to hospital or funeral homes to visit family friends. |

The only loss I suffered during that period was my job but I've lost 4 very close family members, 2 lifelong friends and 3 dogs in the 5 years since.
I've never tested positive for covid but I've had every known symptom of long covid since and still haven't fully recovered.
That's just a few of the reasons I haven't been meeting since 2020 and can't really be arsed doing so.

Thank you for yours and your colleagues hard work and dedication throughout the pandemic. Without you all many more people would be without loved ones today. Happy for you that you came through that tough time in your life. |

It was a really hard time for everyone. Were we lockdown too long. A lot of people found it hard to cope. Alternatively if we were not locked down there might have been more deaths.
I have respiratory problems so was extra careful. I only got covid once and only lasted a day or two but it was very score on my chest.
I am now grateful to be able to get out and about. I find doing the parkrun a great help. Look after yourself Pink. |
