How much do you sleep?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP    24 weeks ago

I suffer from insomnia from time to time and often end up here very late (or early) and see there always seem to be folks online.

Waking anytime after 6am is a good result for me (5:30 today) but I am also asleep before midnight. I am not usually “wrecked” but I am very rarely bright as a daisy either.

Fellow night/morning owls, what’s your story?

Up every day at 4.45 and at weekends if I'm not working might lie in until after 5.

Can't remember the last time I had 5 hours sleep. Wake at least a dozen times during the night but never look at my phone or go online.

Between 5-6 hours. I don't normally sleep past 5am if I'm off. If I get past 6am that's a decent night. Normally up and about by 4.30 during the week for work.

I sleep well when left to my own time.

I can't just go to bed and sleep. I need it to be when I'm ready and not forced.

I generally sleep from about 3am - 10am.

A regular routine just doesn't suit me at all so that's why I've been working the weekend shifts (two 12 hour shifts, rotating days and nights every other week) for the past eight years.

On those work days I probably get 4 hours sleep per night but it's worth it to have five days off during the week and I can sleep well.

5 to 6 hours usually from about 1am.

When I work a night maybe an hour or 2 then a nap when I get home in the morning. And try to catch up the night after and get 8 or 9 hours.

I know when I need more as I get migraines...😳

It’s good to know I’m not alone, well not good for those of you who are tired that is. I thought maybe alcohol, dinner times etc would make a big difference but honestly it was still always the same. I feel like a year or two holidays from work would probably help but the lotto continues to elude me.

I am exercising a lot more and while it doesn’t seem to be helping how many hours I get, I am feeling marginally less shit when I wake up.

I sleep like a champ. Drop off in seconds and sleep for at least 8 hours before I wake up. Though I've noticed that in the last year or so I'm being woken up earlier because I have to visit the bathroom. I get back asleep no problem but it's still annoying that my body is betraying me!

Dook is a bit more sensitive and could end up awake for a few hours if she's woken.

Mrs - I don’t know how many hours I actually get😳 definitely not enough as I’m always exhausted. In bed about 7 hours and sometimes takes me 2 hours to fall asleep. Wake up about 5-7 times a night.

Up with great difficulty at 6 for work, torture! But the weekend no alarm and awake at 5.30 🙄

Definitely a night owl here, most nights not asleep before 2.30am, and can rise at 8 easily enough and be bright all day. The odd time I catch up with an early night, but if I get a chance, I like a lazy morning with dozing and lounging till 10iah... but then coffee must be had.

Great question, BTW!

Mine varies, I sleep better generally when I've training done in the earlier part of day. That is not always possible through.

Evening yoga helps, as does a massage. NSDR podcasts can help calm if I'm struggling to sleep.

I supplement magnesium, all forms are not equal though! C.
