Visit tower museum or bloody Sunday museum, do a walking tour, get your pic taken at the Derry girls mural then head for food at fitzroys (right beside where the tour starts and ends) a few Cocktails in the black bird and the taphouse then head to Waterloo street which has some great bars. |

Firstly you lucky bugger..
It's a good 15 years since last in Derry..
The best compliment i can give Derry is its a great city not for what it is but because of the folk who in it..
Like Lumerick it may be a city but in essence also like Limerick(assiming(dangerous) its limerick city you work in not county) in reality its a working class town.
Inhabited by folk raised on good old working class ethics and beliefs....you'll find them welcoming folk..very welcoming
You, yourself only know what interests you have and tastes in respects of sightseeing.and venues for dining pubs clubs...
As you see folk are already making suggestions...because they want to help you enjoy it as they have...
But to help paint a better picture for you then it may be best to try and give comparisons to Limericm venues..
Always wise to remember the old adage 'when in Rome'..
We all have different tastes..for example..I myself been fortunate to also visit limerick on frequent occasions but it was only towards the end I stumbled upon Nancy's.. my response..why didnt I know about this before..
So taking that lead..folk mentioning Waterloo street..its similar to street Nancy's is on..but with more Nancy's type bars..some with inside connecting doors (helps if you want to see if craic greener next door).
Admittedly venues change over time, but when I spent time in Derry my go to venues(in the veins of Nancys) would about 3 pubs on Waterloo street.goe one next door and one a little further up..
Now some locals may give more modern assessments but 15 years back also enjoyed Sandinos..very much attracted alternative type clientele..once or twice people watching..yes I did think 'mm i wonder ?"
Also enjoyed Saturday nights at Da Vincis..hotel with good bar and night club..20 min walk from city.
Any local confirm if its still good craic..?
Last bit.
Lingo speak..
Be aware in Derry they dont say yes they say 'aye'..
Also..be prepared to get flashbacks to your visit to Derry whenever in the future you hear the word 'surely' said..
Only a Derry person says it like it should be said..
ENJOY..

The tower museum is closing and moving to ebrington so this all depends on your dates of travel. |

Derry is the best for a night out, so many great bars and restaurants with great live music.
Walking tours around the walls are great or just dander round on your own with loads of information plaques to read.
The Guild Hall, St Columbs cathedral and there is the walled city brewery too. Peace Bridge is a nice walk at night with the lights
So much to do |

Hello there, I’m from Derry (well I’m acc from 5 mins outside it haha) we have some amazing bars, I would recommend any of them on Waterloo street haha. We also have some amazing scenery and views within a close drive to Derry. And 90% of the people you will meet are stars. Feel free to shoot me a pm for recommendations or advice. There’s also lots and lots of history in Derry (I love that kinda stuff haha) xx |

Derry man here. Great city. If you aren't a big drinker but like your grub get into mekong but you need to book well in advance. That does the best Thai and Vietnamese in Ireland, if you like seafood then umi is the place to visit. Sandinos downstairs bar is great for people watching during the day. The tour of the walls as everyone else said is a great shout, then walk the bog side and take a dander in through the museum of free derry. Your also only 15mins from donegal. Grianan fort is a must see if your up this far. |
