I noticed a Burger King regular drink is up 40c and regualr fries is up 30c from last month. I feel like the war is being used as an excuse. Do you think we will see the prices come down when it’s over? 🙃
Have you seen it already and where? |

The only thing I notice going up that I buy regularly is my morning coffee or a bag of chips in the chipper
Everything else seems like its gone up as you seem to get less for your euro while shopping
I seem to always try to buy cheaper stuff on special offer now and wouldn't even try to shop without my club card |

I'm not sure I'd call it an excuse. They have undoubtedly seen their costs increase just the same as everyone else has. They are passing the increase along. Businesses have to do this or they are left carrying the can and paying the price themselves. |

Absolutely. If the price of fuel has spiralled then everything from the cost of raw materials, production and transport is rising exponentially too. Business is business after all.
Working in retail, I've seen prices rising pretty much daily across the board even before the current crisis in the Gulf, to the point where I'd probably not notice recent price hikes. Sometimes I'm mortified asking people to pay the price some things. This week alone I've been called a robbing bastard (and several variations thereof) and asked - in all seriousness and with sneering vitriol - how much more I'm making per hour on the back of honest hardworking people 🤷 |

I've been in my current job since 2020 and some products are now 4 or 5 times the price they were then.
If we passed all those additional costs to the customer we probably wouldn't have a business at all so we've had to strike a balance.
Fuel costs haven't been a huge issue just yet but they will if the high prices continue for much longer and they obviously will have a knock-on effect on the cost of the products we buy in as well as those we are sending out.
Any time we've been forced to put the prices up our customers have just shrugged their shoulders and accepted that's how it is because they're in the same boat.

"Remember going to a pub and getting 2 pints with a tenner and getting change back"
When I started working in pubs as a lounge boy the pint was 40 pence in old money so you always got a few pence in tips

I don't drink so I've no idea of prices but I bought a pint for someone a couple of weeks ago in a country pub and was surprised at a sign over the till that said due to rising costs the price of a pint would be going up to £4.80 on 1st March. I expected it to be much more.
The pint plus a cola and 2 soda water and lime was less than £10. |

Checking Amazon spring deals the other day. Bulldog deodorant on Amazon Ireland was €12 and same product on Amazon UK is €3.50!!
We get completely shafted here but until everyone cops on and spends wisely, retailers will continue to rip the piss out of us. |

Some stuff is cheaper on the Irish Amazon site, some stuff is cheaper on the UK site.
If you spend €12 on Amazon deodorant without checking yourself then you fully deserve to be taken advantage of. |

Have you found any decline in service since Amazon Ireland launched? I ordered a couple of things from it and one was delayed and another one cancelled. Been using Amazon UK with years and no problems before. Latest one was €12 higher price on IE and a 3 week wait for delivery. 2 days from UK |

Understand that and know food producers have it hard
I dont normally notice price increases as something is either worth paying for or not
Over the years the local chipper would put a sign up....new potatoes..and that justified their price increase
The price never went down again when they weren't new potatoes anymore |
