A nice rock

Im proposing early July.

17th of March is cold and damp.

Put February bank holiday has filled the "Christ how far away is easter" slot for public holidays.

A straight run of May, June, July and August Bank Holidays would set the summer off right

South Dublin

Nah nah nah, then you wouldn't have the traditional contrast of samba dancers in Aran knit to keep their top halves from freezing in the sleet bursts

What we really need is an EXTRA bank holiday in July, because we're behind the European mean already 😁

North Cork

It was nice to see the badger ☘️🦡☘️ that featured prominently in the Dublin parade wasn't too bothered by the cold or damp.

Leave it on March 17th.

There is no such thing as unsuitable weather, only unsuitable clothes.

Monaghan Cavan

Preferably on a Monday. It would add to the economy as more chance of an influx of people travelling around for the weekend and people flying in also. It could be marketed as a festival weekend.

I used to think it was the most Irish thing ever, having the national holiday at a time when the weather is likely to be miserable. Then I learned Poland has theirs in November...

Westmeath The West.

I dont think we need to change the date as such, just the day itself. It should be on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and have the Monday off if on the weekend!

Tuesday a pure disaster of day!..midweek in general is not an enjoyable public holiday.

Dunboyne

I took Monday off and had a 4 day break. I thought it was perfect.

We move most other days to be a Friday/ Monday, so let's leave St. Patrick's and Christmas move to their own tune.

It will always suit some and not others.

We call that life, or as Christy Moore said, tough shite Paddy

In a place not far from...

A while back I was chatting with some friends about the number of public holidays we have.

Someone suggested july 12th as a welcoming addition, thoughts - on reflection if planned right, it could be a money spinner if you can calm the neds that would ruin it ?
