Wtf is it with Irish drivers on motorways, are we that poor or just thick?
You pass a driving test with no practical motorway driving in the test and then you're let loose. But it's not just new drivers.
Seems to be getting worse or maybe I'm just becoming a grumpy old b*stard!

Agree with you on this one L
Things I've seen just today
Come down a slip road onto M50 to join motorway ....but just stop and wait for a break in the traffic instead of getting speed right to join traffic
Hog the middle or outside lane on M7 while doing 80
Make face-time calls at 120 kph or comb your hair |

One Sunday morning, just after 5am on a dual carriageway here in the North I witnessed 3 cars all with ROI number plates driving in the overtaking lane for 25 miles.
They took it in turns to undertake each other before moving back into the right hand lane and braking to antagonise the driver they had just passed.
There wasn't another car on either side of the carriageway for the whole of those 25 miles at that time of the morning so there was no need to be in the overtaking lane.
I turned off just before they reached the M1 so I'm sure they did exactly the same on there too. |

Yes, its that bad. You are on a quite stretch of motorway doing 115 to 120kph on the inside lane and you come up on this driver in the overtaking lane doing 100 or less with nothing inside them and they have no care in the world for what's behind them and take ages to realise there is someone behind them....this is daily now.

It's total madness that there is no motorway training in the 12 lessons when motorways are now the spine if the country. Another mad one if you are pulling a horse box with a jeep you have to do the same driving test as a car, same routes and reverse round corner etc but then a 16yo can get a provisional and get in a huge tractor and pull an 8 ton load through a town having just gone out on the road. Madness

What's equally as bad and should lead to an instant disqualification, is those already on the motorway who stay in the left lane when cars are coming down the on ramp. Nealry have the expectation that the car joining traffic should stop. They're the dumbest people on the road! |

Juat driven up to Dublin and.soo many gobshites. The young wans with one hand resting on the roof of the car, and arseholes so close they could probably get a good glimpse of my vulva flaps (that needs to be said at some point in every thread from now on!).
And I know I'm more accustomed to tractors on the road nowadays but there seemed to be an almighty amount of trucks on the road today. |

I cover between 75 and 85k a year on the roads . To be honest how I have avoided crashes is a miracle. The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. Its not just the boy racers, it's the older ones who think they own the rosds and can do what they like. |

Got overtaken yesterday morning at 6.30 am on a crest in the road , I nearly sh*t myself because there was a bus coming from the opposite direction . Somehow a serious accident was avoided but ffs what kind of idiots do this? Death wish ? |

Naas which is South West of Dublin |
Only joking of course…..
I was the victim of two counts of attempted murder and countless cases of manslaughter again today, and that wasn’t even in the motorway, wise up people…..
“MOVE TO THE FUCKING LEFT ↖️” should be painted every 100 yards on every motorway in the country.
And don’t get me started on the arseholes on the other side of the motorway driving with their full lights on blinding everyone….. |

It's not just on the motorway. I saw a van come onto a roundabout in the left hand lane to pass a line of traffic, including a Garda car and go all the way around the roundabout and cut other cars up and the Garda did nothing. It's the same cars and vans every morning. Don't get me started on the string of crawlers in the overtaking lane for 20/30 km because they have toll tags and are using the express lane. |

2 pet hates on the roads could someone remind the people in Ireland the outside lane is an overtaking lane so once you have over taking and driving like a granny go back in inside lane please. Secondly people who see you coming again you and flash or tell you to slow down just because ya think im speeding doesn't mean I am |
