"Husband is health scientist (has master's degree) specialising in nutrition and weight loss"
What's his view on intermittent fasting? I have done some people with an eating disorder which is actually a high number of people shouldn't do it.
There pros and cons to it i suppose like everything. |

Movement is a huge factor. Getting active with a 45 minute walk a day in one go. This is key. As others have said electrolytes also, drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day. Intermittent fasting is good but a reduction in calories of about 500 a day should do the trick. Losing 30kg should take you 10 montha to a year to lose and keep off, do you use a gym? If not start walking and track what you eat with an app like my fitness pal, if I can help you feel free to get in touch. You can do it. |

Hi everyone. Apologies as this is my first time using the forums but I was browsing and spotted this one.
Exactly a year ago I was feeling bloated, tired and lethargic and was advised to try Slimming World. At the start of my weight loss journey I was 12st 13lbs. A year on and I am now 10st 8.5lbs and only 2.5lbs off my 2 and a half stones lost award. It is far from easy. Being a diabetic on insulin makes it much more difficult as injecting insulin causes weight gain but if you stick at it and work hard at it then it is possible.
Good luck on your journey OP, you can do it 💪

Fair play to you and I'd say this will be really inspirational to the OP. |

My weight has yoyo'd all my life. Down 20kg now the last few years and only through diet. I can shift the weight much faster with exercise but then when the exercise stops due to work or injury it piles back on. For me it's controlling my diet. I did intermittent fasting and it didn't help me. But it works for some. I tried all sorts of fad diets as most people do but giving up processed sugar as much as possible and cutting out as many carbs as possible works for me. Easier said than done and if anyone has any spare will power I could do with it, thanks 🙈🙈🙈 |

I find it's the day after when I'm tired I'll crave carbs and/or sweet things. Logging your intake on my fitness pal will show any patterns. |

What works for me when fasting for the day is, porridge or Chia seeds in water with lemon juice first thing in the morning, either eggs or fish with sourdough toast around 10am, hunger is gone then for the day, a strong cup of coffee with a banana and an orange around 6pm instead of dinner, I do it once or twice a week on days when I'm doing physical work and feel much lighter and energised afterwards |

IF is really excellent, but only in partnership with other factors, such as a healthy diet when you do eat, movement and sleep. As others have mentioned, I would advise having a hormone and blood test first, to see if your body is deficient in anything - work on supplementing deficiencies (naturally if possible). Also, insulin resistance is the enemy of weight loss - if you’re eating processed carbs, even at a calorie deficit, it will take a lot longer to shift the weight. Age is also a factor for this. Plenty of leafy greens before you eat your main meals. Lots of great apps out there, including AI, that can help build a healthy regime for losing weight while retaining strength and boosting energy. |

"Trying to loose weight so Trying to intermittent fasting 16/8. Any tips... "
Everyone is different, what works for one may not work for another THE main thing is to find what works for YOU...tbh l find habit can be the worst IF its the wrong habit , & another person's metabolism may be higher, we've all seen the person that can eat what they want & not put on any weight & also the person who only needs to look at food & there's weight put on straight away..BUT, to me anyway, is DO NOT in anyway think or feel bad about yourself over your weight, please, remember there are people that would love to be in your position but for whatever reason they can't be , wether health reasons or other reasons, enjoy YOUR way or effort, please feel good , both mentally & physically, going with what way you choose , there is enough crap going on in the World.
Of course l have found that when a person reaches a certain " vintage " the body slows down & you have to, move the goal posts , its life ..BUT the main thing is you can move them..my tuppence worth as regards weight is enjoy what you eat but eat NOT AS MUCH , like l said at the start ,Habit...small changes gradually do help no end ..am l partial to jaffas..absolutely..love them..but have reduced my intake..l only eat 2 packets now instead of 3 🤣🤣..only joking but you get what l mean ..weight = small changes gradually...be happy in your own skin ..enjoy life , its ment to be that way , we only have one ...now where did l leave those Jaffas 🤣🤣 |
