So forgive me this isn’t a fab related question but I know there’s plenty of plumbers and handymen on site that can give me an opinion and possibly advice…
I am hoping to open a home hair salon. I’m going to use the dining room. It’s right beside the kitchen but has no water or drainage. The wall between is a load bearing concrete wall. I need a shampoo wash basin in the room.
Someone has suggested the water can be taken from upstairs so the whole house doesn’t have to be dug up.
I am clueless to these kinds of things… any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Getting water through a hole in the wall would be very easy. Getting the drained water into a drain is a lot harder. You could have a basin that collects into a container and that emptied by and after the client leaves. That would be a fairly cheap stopgap option.
Running a business from your home where clients come to you might be an issue if someone reports you to the council. Look up if you need a "change of use" to the room you will be using in order to comply with planning. You don't wanna spend a bunch on time and money before knowing what you need to do to comply. Also look at insurance incl public liability |

Connect your Water supply & drainage to the existing Kitchen one , the size of the opening in your load bearing/ dividing wall will have no impact on the wall ,a 2" waste pipe & hot & cold supply,they can all go through the same place , just make sure you don't have a electrical socket etc on the dining room walls that may prevent the water pipes from going across them , its normal enough to do such a job , there is no way any pipes etc should be brought down or any digging, its a straightforward connection from the kitchen supply of both water supply & water drainage..ie the water from your hair salon goes into your kitchen waste water pipe.
I know loads of ladies that do hair from home as it seriously cuts down on overheads.

Depending on the orientation of both rooms, I would suggest getting a water feed from the kitchen and sending the drainage out the same direction - you could opt for a hole straight through the wall for the grey water but it would be something needs to be viewed.
If you tamper with a load bearing wall, your going to have to prop it up to be reinforced which can be costly - avoid doing this.
An easier alternative would be if you had a garage to the side of the house. You could run a cold water feed in from the outside or down from the attic. Plumb an electric water heater in and have an outflow for the grey water (a flower bed out the front can work but don't let it be seen)
Be selective who you take cash from because revenue are always watching this and check if you need to designate the area working in as for commercial use.
If the house a local authority or housing association - they won't entertain this idea as it will be viewed as a breach of the terms of agreement.

Would need to see your kitchen layout.
But in general it should be easy enough to get water and waste through the kitchen. Its not difficult to connect up hot and cold and bring them in qualplex behind or under units and through the dinning room wall.
Even if the waste had to go out through the dining room extenal wall, the existing external drainage is probably not far away to run a small drainage pipe to.
A 2-3 inch hole drilled through kitchen wall would have no impact on its integrity. As mentioned above, just need to be sure no electrical sockets/conduits are in the way, but still easily avoidable!
