Its an improvement on the last season which appeared to be very busy and packed.
I think it still feels a bit messy. Theres a big focus on dragon battles. The pacing feels uneven, and the story is being made overcomplicated.
Just as you feel you have gotten your head around the story arc, thr sequence shifts. I feel that continuity is still being lost. |

In fairness though it's based (or supposed to based) on the Dance of Dragons, so it should be dragon battle focused. That's one of the main appeals of this point in time in the Series, both books and shows. One of the biggest criticisms of the last season apart from the slow moving plots, was the lack of dragon related matters |

True, but is HBO trying to over compensate after the slowness of season 2.
I think there's a lot of course-correcting going on. So far, the first 2 episodes are more spectacle. It's faster pacing, wirh more battles, more dragons, and a noticeable push to make things feel bigger and more immediate but the joining of rhe sequences feels adhoc. I just think the flow is off.
Even with game of thrones, my interest waned after the red wedding and i thought the final season, was a rush to tie everything up because the budget was blown and it needed to finish. |
