Ladies, Men are to be celebrated and worshipped on this day
But on a more serious note, it is an opportunity where issues affecting Men and boys can be discussed, in an attempt to remove some of the stigma of Men in our society.
There is no other group in Society which is collectively blamed for the poor behaviour of a small minority on such a regular basis. Some of the problems afflicting men and boys today, include the high suicide rate in our Country, the complete lack of resources for male victims of domestic violence and the falling behind of young men and boys in Education..thoughts please? |

Im the mother of sons and it really frightens me what our sons have ahead of them. The male role is becoming less defined and the rates of depression, anxiety and suicide or frightening. In my local area there's been a number of young male suicides. I want for my boys to be happy and confident and to know their worth .. exactly what I want for my girls.
Good thread OP and enjoy international mens day |

I know two men that took their own lives...during the recession when their family homes were threatened by the banks. I agree that a few rotten bastards taint our gender but for the most part we're good guys. Important for men to take time to appreciate what they have achieved...look at their kids and remind themselves of the legacy they will leave behind with their children. Take half and hour each day to turn off the phone and go for a quiet walk...life is good for the most part. |

Apparently men aged 45-54 are the most likely to die by suicide in Ireland. In all there were 486 confirmed suicide deaths in 2014, compared to 487 in 3013. In 2016 there were 399 suicides, and 451 in 2015. Over 4 in 5 of these were men, this high male to female ratio has been a consistent feature of deaths by suicide. Cases of self harm also seem to be following a similar trend. |
