I think you're confused with the league cup. In fairness Ferguson never viewed the FA cup as Mickey mouse and United were essentially forced to pull out because the FA wanted the world cup so leaned on Utd. to compete in the world club competition but frowned on them fielding a B team in the FA Cup while the main squad were away |
