How do you tell whether an account is fake or not?

If its too good to be true...

It probably is.

(But not always.)

Red flags for me are wont exchange face pics, wont agree to a video call type thing but to be honeat, you just kinda know.

After years of being on here you just get that feeling they are fakes,flakes or timewasters

All accounts by definition are fake. No one is using their real identities.

I think you mean a time waster. That becomes more tricky. There are about 80% fantasists on this site. People that want to meet but then chicken out at the last minute. Thats a bit different.

I dont think many are on here specificially to troll, they just get scared.

Ive had more people cancel that meet up, usually as im just about to leave the door or if Im on my way. All kinds of insane excuses.

There's all sorts on here. Some people are just here for the thrill. Some people get nervous and cancel. Some are pic collectors. Some genuinely want to meet. And so many others.
