"So on July 4th which of you sexy people will be heading to the bar and having a nice stiff drink? "
You keep asking this question but the majority vote seems to be to exercise caution
Or if you live in Scotland or wales they won't be opening yet anyway

The only reason I keep asking the question is because everyone has got different opinions everyday |

I don't go to the pub much anyway.
Having to give your contact details so you can be contacted and then be told to self isolate for two weeks. Just in case one of the other 50 or so people there tests positive with the virus?
I've done OK during the lock down and I'm not risking self isolation just so I can go to the pub?? |

For the record my previous post on this thread wasn't an invitation to meet!!
Merely a joke.... Stating the fact that it is Socially acceptable to meet on a park at a 2 meter distance and have a drink with a picnic...
My humour is clearly missed!

A lot of people I know seem to think it'll just go back to normal now.
Pubs will have to adjust capacity numbers and it'll be hard to get into pubs at peak times until the social distancing completely stops.
So I'll be avoiding them too, for a while at least. |

Nope, I won't be going straight away. It's just not going to be the same: handing over personal details, waiting ages for a drink, drinks being rationed, people forgetting or ignoring social distancing. I'd much rather have friends over and relax in the garden chatting and have a few drinks instead. I don't have a lot of faith in the fabled British common sense at the moment. |

Definately not the same in cities.
We live in a village where pretty much everybody knows everyone so not many contact details needed.
Going to our locals is more like going to house parties |

Nope, but pubs were not my kind of atmosphere anyway so this is an easy decision. Even the other places opening up like non essential shopping places... I don't need to go because I have all the material things I would want or need for this whole year at least.
I have an image in my mind of the pubs being packed like beaches. Indoor sweat fest |

Not for a good while yet. I like being able to see my Mum and Dad knowing that the risk of me adding it on is minimal. I’ll be avoiding others for a good while longer, except when absolutely necessary. |

if you want a cautionary tale.... i can take you to where i went to uni in the states...
East lansing, Michigan....
there is a bar in the town called "harpers"... i would love to say its a lovely bad but to be honest its a bit of a dive! lol..
anyway, they open up..... and something seems to have gone wrong because people started getting ill.....
they are now responsible for the single biggest outbreak of Covid in the state, and one of the single biggest outbreaks in the US... so far 125 cases of Covid have been traced back to this one... single... bar!!!!
so... anyone still going out???? |

Funny how most of the v people responding don't go to pubs normally.. So why even comment
We want to know what pub frequenters will be going again.
We will but we're away at a naturist campsite so we'll miss our local reopening |

I frequent pubs on a regular basis, or did; but there is no way i will be going near one for the foreseeable future, most people in the city here can't be sensible when sober, what chance is there when they are pissed.
The whole idea of them reopening is stupid, and yes i understand the financial implications and the effect on the economy, and everyone has a choice, just stay away from me and the people i hold dear if you have been crammed in a bar in town after Saturday !
This virus has NOT gone away whatever the misguided think; the city centre today looked like people didnt give a damn !
Inside the shops was well managed, outside was a nightmare, I am sure the bars will manage their premises well, but outside ? ? ?
No thank you, choose what you want to do, stay home stay safe, go drinking and maybe die; or kill someone you love ... hmm !

The joy of living in a small village, with the pub only about 750 yards away! A community hub, with beer garden and extra outdoor seating, and the village hall immediately opposite which they’ll probably open to accommodate social distancing. It’ll be great to socialise over a few beers again, and support a hardworking family business. Cheers! |

More like this will remove it from the community faster. |

Nope, I love a night out on the town but the idea of it with so many restrictions and having to book tables and not ending up in a nightclub at the end just sounds shite. I'd rather wait till things go back to proper normal |

We used to go quite a bit before lockdown for socials, however we won't be going near one for a while, I mean where we live has a bar anyway if we get that desperate and our cans and bottles are getting near the end of their sell by date, so home it is!

I'm following the science..the majority on here either a) didn't go to the pub anyway (so opinion irrelevant in this discussion) or b) just not going thinking they know better than the government
How did you vote? |

I really cannot understand your, and other's, desperation to get to the pub.. The atmosphere in any pub following the guidelines is hardly likely to be anything like the pub you knew before is it |

Not me. There's nothing more I love than a Saturday lunchtime beer, with mates or alone. But not this Saturday - can you imagine the hoards of desperate louts waiting their turn to get in? And if the palaver at Bournemouth beach last week was anything to go by, then an even better excuse to stay away for a couple of weekends. |

I want to go as I think it's important to support businesses at this time and I don't think that there's anything overtly dangerous about visiting a boozer. Although I do think the opening should have been delayed until a Monday or Tuesday.
What does put me off is the whole booking a table and using an app stuff |

It's nothing to do with knowing better than the government.
Its all about what us as individuals feel is right.
Nothing to do with who we did or didn't vote.
Olso the government stopped following the science a while back. |

Agreed.
"Knowing better than the government" isn't exactly hard here. They wouldn't know their arse from their elbow. And that has nothing to do with how I voted. |

As much as I want to, I’ll be waiting a couple of weeks before i go to the pub. After the masses hitting the beaches and other gatherings I want to see how the general public behaves. |

I find it quite weird that most of you say no to going to the pub as it will be too busy.... well if the pole on this thread is anything to go by then the pubs will be empty!
That said I'm still not going! |

I also live in a village, but sadly my local is an awful one with watered down drinks and food that I wouldn’t serve to my dogs.
I wish we had one like yours! |

Pubs will be safe places.
I've worked through covid in a factory with over 250 staff. We've followed the guidance and had zero transmission. Our canteen has stayed open throughout, following the guidance that is about to apply to pubs and restaurants.
There is more risk in Asda and Tesco than sat at a clean table which is spaced at a safe distance.
2 pints please (the first one won't last long)
