Asmr is the tingles you get as a responses to, sometimes, pleasent sounds.
It can be rain on windows, someone whispering positive words and making sounds with their mouths. Some like listening to others eat.

ASMR is brought on by different things for different people. For me it feels like really nice tingly feeling at the back of my head. But it cannot be brought on by whispering ladies or stroking towels (or any of that rubbish). I tend to get it when someone is doing something for me (not sexual). It feels great. |

I use ASMR every night to fall asleep to, really works for me. ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. Basically you may feel tingles and ocassionally get goosebumps from certain sounds. Doesn't work for everyone and certain sounds work differently on others. |

I've had the ASMR reaction, but never from those bloody silly videos. I remember getting it as a kid when adults were explaining things to me or showing me how to do stuff. One example was me standing in my nan's kitchen with her making scones and talking me through the process as she went. Something about the quiet location, the calm voice and the tactile nature of what she was doing. Possibly also something to do with feeling "safe", maybe? I'm not sure.
It's not - despite how a lot of the videos approach it - a sexual thing at all. More of an odd but pleasurable tingling in the scalp and sometimes a sort of "goosebumpy" sensation on the arms.
It's much rarer as an adult, but still happens occasionally.

That’s exactly how I get it!! If someone is doing something for me. I remember as a little kid, another lad tied my shoe laces for me. That’s my first ever memory of it. |
