My bad, maybe this is from before COVID but numbers have increased and I guess people need to be a lil extra extra careful. Maybe COVID will show a decreasing trend when new cases are counted. Fingers crossed.

The article says that but not due to a reduction in activity but due to a lack of GUM clinics being open.
OP is right, be safe and be aware, regular testing is a good thing and from my experience the people who run the clinics are lovely and non judgmental |

It’s old data but also a lot of the under 25 free test me sights only tested for chlamydia in the past as that was the biggest risk in under 25s. Now they are testing for both so that could also explain the rise. |

I saw an Australian graph (they're into spring). The rate plummeted. |
