Nor do we and we're in the largest town in GM! We have Uber cabs occasionally (when they're not all in Manchester) but no Deliveroo or Uber Eats. Our takeaway does it's own delivery.

Yeah mine does luckily. Can’t get Pizza Hut KFC or anything like that though. Just Chinese or Indian.

There's restaurants and takeaways from pretty much every country known to man just over the road from me, but that does sound a bit pricey Lib!

Yeah, I know how to cook, I just can't be bothered - hence the takeaway. The price for just rice is absolutely ridiculous.

Tbf Uber Eats and Deliveroo are just daylight robbery by the time they've added service and delivery fees on (and Uber inflates the price of the food too, I think by about 15-20% from my own comparisons). It's alright when you fancy a big chain or food from somewhere that doesn't do delivery but otherwise I use either Just Eat or just order straight from the restaurant. With the other two you have the added bonus of watching your food arrive and knowing exactly when it's going to be here though.

Although saying that I'd rather just drive the 7 or 8 minutes to my local Maccies drive thru than be charged £3.99 for delivery PLUS inflated food prices PLUS 10% service fee...

But it's not just rice though is it... It's overheads, wages, delivery etc. You're not paying for the food so much as you're paying for the convenience and service. Not saying that it's not expensive, but just that I understand why it is

I never order rice, always go the noodle route. I always have a few packs of microwave egg fried rice if I do fancy it, much cheaper and tastes the same covered in sauce!

The Indian is way more expensive.

We get it as 2 meal deals and I think that makes it cheaper.

I'm also outside of Edinburgh. I'd pay a lot more in the city centre.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

My usual order from my local Chinese takeaway is Special Chow Mein, a portion of plain rice and a portion of chips. I get 2 meals out of that, and for less than a tenner!

I have to make the 15 mile round trip to collect it, though, as no-one delivers to where I live.

If I had to tell you, I'd have to shoot you. It's a little ethnic Chinese Malay fish & chips + Chinese/Malay takeaway just up the road from us. They deliver in a 3 miles radius, which excludes Stockport!

In the North, not frozen, but statistically the driest part of the country.

Ermm.. You said that sounds about right (for London too).

£15 - £6 (just for rice) = £9 remaining.

You get a starter and main for £4.50 each when rice alone is £6?
