Gammon joints work just as well as ham joints.
Pulled pork works well in a slow cooker too - again use a gammon joint cooked in the slow cooker, separate it with a pair of forks, add some bbq sauce (as in hunter’s chicken sauce, not so much the condiments).

I saw someone had done roast potatoes in them the other day. Part cooked the spuds, tossed them in oil and popped in the slow cooker for 3 hours, you have to put a tea towel over the cooker/under the lid to absorb the steam. Haven't tried them myself but if you do and they are good please let me know |

I always do a '' ham near Xmas in the slow cooker.
One year, after it was cooked in the slow cooker, I made a glaze from whatever I could find in the cupboard. It was a spiced orange flavour and I popped it in the oven for a short time to caramelise the glaze.
Omg, it was absolutely delicious. When I came to do it the folowing year, I couldn't remember how I'd done it! Lol |

Slow Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala
INGREDIENTS
3 lbs. boneless skinless chicken thighs
1 large yellow onion, finely diced
5 cloves garlic, minced
4 Tbsp freshly, finely grated ginger
1 (29 oz) can tomato puree or sauce
2 cups plain yogurt
2 Tbsp lemon juice
4 Tbsp Garam Masala
2 Tbsp cumin
1 Tbsp paprika
2 tsp salt, or to taste
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1-3 tsp cayenne pepper (this is where the real spicy kick comes in, so use less for mild)
1 cup heavy cream
In a large mixing bowl combine chopped onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, tomato puree, plain yogurt, lemon juice, Garam Masala, cumin, paprika, salt, cinnamon, pepper and cayenne pepper. Stir until combined. Pour half of sauce mixture into a large slow cooker then add in chicken. Then cover chicken with remaining sauce. Cover slow cooker and cook on low heat for 8 hours (or high for 4 hours).
Stir in the cream before you serve, and fresh coriander if thats your thing |

French Onion Soup is a favourite and very easy.
Fill the pot with onions, some butter, cook until they carmelise, add stock, dash of white wine/balsamic.
Do the bread and cheese separately under the grill, combine and enjoy. |

Nigel Slater's Mulled Lamb is excellent in a slow cooker.
The original recipe is in the link below, I fry the lamb and shallots and tip them into my slow cooker along with the other ingredients and cook on low all day.

You could try mutton in red lentils , I made it for the first time recently using lamb but apparently it’s nicer with mutton but takes a good 3 hours to cook.
Sear the mutton and remove, fry up onions , garlic, ginger, chilli, crushed cardoman, corriander, cumin and turmeric. Add soaked red lentils; the lamb, tomatoes, stock cube, honey, lime water and slow cook. At the end add coriander and pineapple or mango. |

The best cooking utensil in the world, parents bought me one in 1986 when I went to college, still using it to this day.
Quite a simple dish but I love cooking big chunks of chuck or stewing beef (brown them in frying pan first) with whole Portobello mushrooms, sliced onions covered in a tin of plum tomatoes, I slow cook it on low setting for eight hours...devine. |
