"It would have to be a stranger."

I couldn't watch another person die. I do value human life before animals if push come to shove.

My heart says my dog but then I'd realise that dogs don't normally drown so I'd then rescue the stranger (as long as she was good looking )

My dog, unless it was someone I knew then I'd probably laugh at them getting in to such a pickle then try to save both.

But my dog HATES water so having to rescue him is highly unlikely

I've just had to look at the news to see what you're talking about. No doubt the OP wasn't aware either. Not everyone listens to the news.

Sweet heart not everyone has the bbc news app zapped to there phone as events happen so

May not have been aware of current issues so

Do not presume this is off the back of current issues.

Now I’ve animals cats and dogs and I love them dearly. However I’d always take human life over an animal

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

The number of people that end up finding themselves in trouble when they go into water to save their dog is crazy. And more often than not the dog is quickly on dry land looking at them like they're mental.

Saying that.... I've done it when my dog looked like he was in trouble, was very lucky to not get into bother myself.

I'd call the coastguard and get the lifeboat out.

Were they trying to save a dog at the time? Otherwise not really relevant.

"My dog, without question...no human has ever given me such unconditional love as any of my dogs. "

To anyone who doesn't understand why someone would pick their dog, this answer sums it up perfectly....

I lost my dog to old age in August. I cried every day for a week after her.

"You only have time to save one, which one you choosing and why?"

My dog, why? because he would of done the same for me, when out angling and i'm in the lake my dog would come out as far as he dare or stand on the bank huffing and puffing his disapproval, you know i'm not joking the dog every time.

Neither. If a dog is drowning then those waters are perilous and I would likely die myself whilst trying to save one of them

I've just re-read this and the question is "my" dog is drowning not "a" dog! That changes the whole concept of the question. I suppose I'll have to attend the inquest of the stranger's death by drowning

Someone else’s dog is drowning and a stranger?

Still the dog

A toy dog is getting wet and a family member is drowning?

Probably still the dog if it looks lifelike enough
