You’re definitely having the middle finger emoji lol! Lucky you! Xx"
Just laid on the sofa drinking coffee, it's rather nice not having to rush about on a morning |

Although I do realise I'm not working the actual days of Christmas or the bank holidays but that's because I don't have to. I have done in the past and have also volunteered as a samaritan on Christmas day. |

Me (Alice) Working till Friday not sure what time (cover multiple timezones so hoping not too late). Then back working next Wednesday. Madhatter finishes his last nightshift before Christmas on Wednesday morning, not sure when he is back the following week
At least we have Christmas off unlike some of my friends.

Technically I’m off for two weeks, but as I’m self-employed I’m never too far from work and will be doing bits and bats over my ‘break’. Annual Gabriel Reporting for the FCA and PCI DSS compliancy updates a couple of particular highlights to look forward to……. |

I should have been starting a new job last week but some technical issues saw that fall through.
Free for the holidays
However they have told me to get ready to start in the new year. |

I only work nights. 9-12hrs long shifts.
Last year I worked Xmas Eve, Xmas day, Boxing day, the 27th and then New Years Eve.
This year I'm only working on my birthday, Xmas Eve and New Years Day. Hurray lol |

Lucky you . My dad is 59 and needs to retire due to his health. He can't though no thanks to his mortgage. Hope you give your wife a merry Christmas and to you too |

Working all through.
Makes me laugh coz you're serving people and they say "I cannot believe they're making you work all through Christmas"
Erm... if people like you didn't choose to come here, they wouldn't be and I'd get time off too!

Ain't that the truth!
Someone was moaning at me whilst I served them on the till that all the click and collect slots were gone (they've been open since October) so they've actually had to come into the store and shop.
I'd been at work since 4am picking orders with as many colleagues as would come to work. It’s expected that we all do overtime and holidays are suspended in December
I smiled through gritted teeth, thinking off the huge amount of food that ends up in landfill by new year. |

"Normal working weeks for us over Christmas & New Year - we'll be like ships that pass in the night. "
Ships lit with Xmas lights, look good at night. Loved seeing them in Madeira when I was last there for Xmas. Seriously though, sorry about your predicament. |

We're used to it to be fair - lots easier now the kids have grown & flown the nest. Always felt a touch of guilt (& jealousy) when I couldn't be there.
Comes with the job & we've both had some great days at work over the years so it's not all bad
Huge thanks to everyone working over the Christmas season! |

I'm still officially 'working' until lunchtime Christmas Eve. However I'll probably be out malingering between cafés and gift shops whilst checking my emails.
I'm off until January 10th.
Sincere respect to those working in retail, hospitality and healthcare.

Plus side, I'll start my Xmas shopping about 7 hours earlier than normal this year |
