For those who have been married, did you get any amazing presents? Any truly awful or just plain bizarre ones?

Those who have not tied the knot, have you bought anything really good/bad/ugly for others?

We got a fondue set for our wedding, amongst other things. Sounds kitsch but we have used it quite a few times and I think they're almost coming back into fashion

I've literally just been through our wedding box yesterday and got some stuff out!

My uncle is an artist and did a 1/1 print in his style which included all the family. Also got a traditional Norwegian blanket (I have a thing about blankets) - it's far too nice to use though so it's currently in a display cabinet. Most of the rest of the presents was money

Who got to keep it? Or did the charity shops benefit?

Never been married, so only ever given gifts… and usually keep it simple, often just a really good bottle of wine that will age and last 10 years to ge d*unk on an anniversary

Most of ours were money but we got a few other bits. We had a gorgeous set of picture frames but they were unfortunately smashed by the cat

Maybe because you should spend more time drinking from one than the other

Most people gave us money towards our honeymoon. We got a few bottles of fiz and the old man gave J a bottle of whisky. We already had the house etc so I think the more traditional gifts seemed a bit pointless as we already had most of it haha! X

Gapping Fanny

I once brought a couple one of those anatomy models with removable organs as a wedding present.

They loved it as it made for a unique ornament/conversation piece.

Sometimes regret giving a couple we know gift tokens for a local law firm

I shouldn't find that funny, but it's great

I gave a romantic weekend away voucher as I thought they could use it to remind themselves how lucky they are to have found each other once all the excitement of the wedding had faded.

First wedding: Minnie mouse balloon because my aunt is a bitch and didn't agree with my wedding and thought I was being awful to my parents (I got married very quickly). Lasted 15 years!

Second wedding: not so much a weird present but how we got them was strange, we had our reception in a pub and a girl who works there had met Doughnut once playing dungeons and dragons and somehow she got invited (this was the day before), she turns up to the wedding with her little boy of about 3 years old in a suit with a present for us (people that actually knew us didn't bring gifts) of superhero shot glasses and something else related to superheroes, in a Spiderman box (to be clear our wedding was geeky so she had gone out of her way to keep with the theme) and spent all night kissing the face off Doughnuts cousin, leaving her little boy with everyone else and he is in so many of our pictures and no one even knew his name.

Lovely present but bizarre woman!

Danish x
