There's a mixture of nice and nasty messages whether it's in the forum or private messages. Really if a guy is going to be a dick about something, it doesn't matter where he posts it  |

There's alot of smooth talkers for sure on here who are very good at telling you what they think you want to hear. Luckily I've met a few nice ones who can deliver but majority talk the talk |

Yes this. Generally people aren't likely to be dickish on the fora.
Also, I've never really had bad messages away from the forum. The only bad one has been a direct result of the forum.
However, I hope you enjoy yourself here OP. The men on the forums aren't actually that bad for the most part. Just like the women. And transgender folx.

For the most part those that use the forum generally have an idea how to interact with people. Being able to hold conversations and knowing what is or should be acceptable etc.
Even the brash opinionated people that have conflict between them and others still have a basic understanding of conversing. |

I'm in the minority I think as most of the messages I get are polite nice messages I rarely get any abuse on here,on the rare occasion I do I just block and move on.
Like anywhere else on fab the forum's is a mix or all types.The decent nice ones,the ones who post to start arguments,the ones who blow smoke up others arses hoping it will get them the ride,the people who think fab should be done their way and anyone who disagrees is wrong, the popular ones who believe they are fab elite and have the do you not know who I am attitude, the lurkers who are too nervous to post but watch it all and pm off threads,and then you get the ones who do all the shite stirring in the background while acting all nice on the forums. So don't believe all the nice facades on here as quite often they aren't even skin deep. Luckily there are enough actually decent people on here who make it worthwhile being on here. |

I don't even think the forum people are a different class necessarily I think it's more the case of one-on-one. You can act differently to when you are messaging in part of a group. For myself personally, I am always polite to respectfully my messages because at the end of the day we're all here for the same thing and as a male speaking to a woman. Well I shouldn't look at the female in a derogatory manner because she's here as well. However, I do feel like the standard of some men on here ruins it for the rest of us.
Sometimes I feel like I may be too polite and respectful for some people on here as we start speaking and the conversation goes to nothing for no apparent reason.
So now I post a question. Is it possible to be too polite to respectful while private messaging on fab? |

I agree to an extent. I think forum men see as more as people on the whole (not always, I’ve had some really creepy messages from forum men too).
They tend to be a bit more respectful. |

Some people are just much better at creating personas than others.
There are some very productive people on the forums who bear no resemblance to the person I knew from chatgroups prior to their forum engagement.
I could use a long list of adjectives to describe their lack of personality or their nasty misogynistic predatory behaviour back then but yet they are forum darlings now and leopards don't change their spots that easily.

i think the forum gives people the chance to show off their human side without trying to "win" you over in a message. so i guess people who use the forums are probably more easygoing/thoughtful rather than the "meet me now" Dickpics type.

Yes I do a bit because people often talk about not ignoring red flags while at the same time ignoring some of the biggest red flags available.
I'm talking specifically about my own experiences in the Irish forums. I can't comment on the lounge because I'm not invested enough in it and don't really know anyone here but judging by comments from other posters this applies equally across all forums and not just on fab. |
