A drag artist was escorted to safety by police after holding a ticket only event at a local library for children. Protesters hurled abuse.
Now it was ticket only and guessing the protesters did not have children at the event.
Don't these people remember watching Mother Goose and all those pantomime dames.
What is going on here guys? |

Protests are over the Drag Queen Story Hour UK, a 'show' being presented to young kids in libraries. It's open to question whether it's harmless pantomime knockabout or something more sexualised. What to say to a 5-year-old who asks "Why is that man wearing ladies clothes Mummy?" |

The reply to the 5yo is "there's no such thing as men's or women's clothes, the man is wearing clothes he likes and is comfortable in, just like you."
My 5yo daughter has a friend at school (a boy) who likes to wear pink, skirts and make up. She's perfectly okay with that, as are the whole of their class. This boy has attended birthday parties in his pink clothes and everyone has just joined in together happily. I hope this continues as they get older. |

It was a ticketed event, so the parents would’ve known exactly who was telling the story and how to answer any questions about the man in the dress.
What do you say to a child about two men or women kissing in the street or just holding hands ?
My Mother told me about a time when I first saw someone in a wheelchair. I said something along the lines about how lazy they were (I was very young) my mum then told me their legs don’t work. In my tiny mind that made sense and I had no further questions about disabled people from that moment on.
Maybe we should trust the parents and their motivations for going to this event. |

I don't think there's anything sexual about it. It's encouraging children to view it as perfectly normal and that everyone's different which reduces prejudice in the future.
I think it's a good thing personally. |

Imo Pantomimes are a lot of fun for kids but drag shows are completely unsuitable for children and to me there is a very unsavoury political agenda to this kind of thing.

Nothing political about it but I do know a lot of women are against drag shows because of how they portray women. |
