Ok, so Christmas is fast approaching and 'It's a Wonderful Life' is being advertised as per usual.....''the best ever christmas film''....''it's a christmas classic''....and so on.

Is it really?

What's peoples favourite Christmas film?Mine is A Muppet Christmas Carol....and yes, I am 42!

It's A Wonderful Life!

Really, honest!

It is a great film, from start to finish.

Apparently it has been use to boost people's morales when they are low this time of the year.

The final Shrek film takes its inspiration from this film.

It is my second favourite film of all time, after Gone With The Wind, and before To Kill A Mocking Bird.

And I am nearly 48.

I have seen it and thought it was very good...I am sucker for a black and white movie.

But The Muppets rock!

Excellent film and my favourite of all time, however, I can't remember it being very Christmasy.

I watch It's A Wonderful Life every year but Siren can't stand it as she thinks it's a miserable film until the last 5 minutes. She has a point, but I still watch it anyway.

My favourite Xmas film is The Santa Clause though because it does one thing that makes explaining to a child how Santa gets down the chimney - it shows it in superb graphical detail how the fireplace morphs into a traditional one big enough for Santa to squeeze down. Job done. (It's still a great film though).

I don't have a favourite Christmas film. I can't think of any films that tend to get shown at Christmas that I'm particularly fussed about.

I don't actually even have a TV at the moment anyway, (well I do, but it's connected to a DVD player only - no digital receiver, so no TV). I'm not really missing it much. I download a few things sometimes but not a lot.

Awww.

I was going to treat myself to the DVD but its region 1. I think Santa needs to bring me a multi-region DVD player this Christmas.

Yes, you must! We've got one, so I can buy things on DVD when I'm at home & bring them back over- like the complete series of fraggle rock.

it wouldn't be xmas without the usual telly staples like "wonderful life" although .. doubt it would be shown as frequently if it weren't for the legal anomaly that invalidated the copy right of the original b&w version making it public domain and virtually free for tv stations to put in their seasonal line ups.

it was colourised in the 80s' (never seen that version) in an attempt to claw back some of the lost residuals / copyright revenues the film studio lost out on due to the original b&w print being public domain through the legal anomaly .

personally it's not xmas without labyrinth or a carry on televisually! ;p
