"Do they celebrate it?"

No, its a non Christian country.

But they do give painted eggs that represent, fertility, rebirth and life

I feel there's a hugely offensive punchline to this.

Absolutely no difference. The Chinese calendar has a separate day for the qixi festival which falls in august and is as close to the western Valentine’s Day as you will get but 14th Feb has been adopted so can’t go far wrong with flowers, chocolates etc.

If it’s someone you are dating then bear in mind china is an atheist country and sex before marriage is a sin to many.

I’m sure Chinese women like chocolate and flowers just as much as any others.

If they are atheist, how can it be a sin? I understand how they might object to it, but a sin???

Gbat

The same thing that you would get any lady. If you make it a red box, red is lucky in Chinese culture. And the number 8. 8 red roses?

Having lived in China, the safest and most welcome gift is a hong bao (red envelope) with cash inside. It sounds impersonal, but it is usual and invariably well received.

Because many Chinese are religious, whether that’s Buddhism, Taoism or Christianity
