This is an amazing achievement for a club like Wrexham, it proves they can hold their own.

I am sure Ryan does not regret his decision.

I was born in Wrexham and live only a few mile down from it. Welsh and proud of it despite the negativity.

Unsure of what you mean by what was he thinking, however...

It was Rob McElhenney's idea to buy the team. He talked Ryan Reynolds in to it.

Ryan loves to create things, or turn "nothing" in to "something"

Didn't realise it was quite as inflammatory! Get the chips off..

Simply.. Most folks who invest in football clubs are either a) for lower tier clubs... Local business men... Or b) for top tier.. dodgy business men who can afford to lose billions.

And not Hollywood actors.

So his involvement is very different.

Wonder if there will be a film or a netflix series off the back of it.

Now? Yes.

Back when it first happened, more people were thinking the same. Time has passed and it became old news. Those that care learned why, those that don't forgot about it.

They really have! Exciting times for Wrexham right now!

I love how R&R spoke in Welsh flr their acceptance speecg after winning an award for their contribution to promoting Welsh culture recently at a New York awards ceremony by the Welsh Assembly.

Rob McElhenney has learned to speak Welsh via zoom lessons I believe...

It's a small world.

Do you mind if I ask which part of Wrexham you're from?

I don't live there, I was born there

He didnt ask where you live though did he? He asked what part of it you were from? ie what part of it were you born in?

I don't consider myself as being 'from' there though, to be from there I would have had to live there.....

Would you? I would always have considered the place of ones birth as the place you come from.

Doesn't make sense to say I was from there though when I've never lived there

..It's my Birthtown

I was born in Chester, and lived there for maybe the first 3 or 4 years of my life, then we moved to a small village in north wales (not so far from Wrexham), where I lived for 20 years and did all my growing up. When I think of home, that’s where I think of.

Exactly, where you are from is the place you were raised x

Ignore BM, its what he does. Criticises and goes off topic to prove he's right.

Fair play. Looking out for the ladies. A knight in shining armour"

He's not wrong though is he.

"This is an amazing achievement for a club like Wrexham, it proves they can hold their own.

I am sure Ryan does not regret his decision.

I was born in Wrexham and live only a few mile down from it. Welsh and proud of it despite the negativity.

Ahhh, BM. You are getting predictable.

Although im abit disappointed that you didn't accuse me of 'simping' or suggest im doing it so they have sex with me, like you usually do with guys.

You were probably tired and sleepy and off your game.

From what ive seen these ladies of the forums are more than capable of looking after themselves.

I think he's been great for Wrexham he seems to honestly care about the players and the Wrexham community, and they seem to love him for it. Its pretty rare that club owners are as popular with the fans as Ryan and Rob are.

"Didn't realise it was quite as inflammatory!

LMAO

Look on Disney a full series of the journey of deciding to buy. Buying and bringing the club up.

Wrexham chap here and this is fantastic for a local club that was owned by the supporters and struggling to get ahead.

Watch the docu and enjoy

To be fair that is their whole background so to speak. They make a living on being liked, and playing up to people. Ryan is a master of charisma and adcertising/promotion. I'm not saying it's not genuine, but it comes natural to them compared to some old rich guy, or a billionaire from another country.

It should certainly be a much more common thing.

That's a good point, but then again there's people in the same business as them that I'm sure fans wouldn't take to quite as well.

So wrexham made it, did they win the match?

I saw Wellcome to wrexham its a great show full of humour and the local people are the stars.

So to hear they made it to the cup match from where they started is amazing.

well done wrexham.

Buying into history ... Wrexham is one of the oldest functioning football grounds... so hopefully there will be more history?

At the time he was thinking its a good side project because his personality is to create and try to make something work. He was talked in to it as an underdog story.

I'm a huge Ryan Reynolds fan but even in the documentary, it doesn't try to make it out like they set out to be heroes. They had little to no idea what they were doing other than it was the "best deal" for the experience they wanted.

Once they were a good ways down the line of actually taking ownership of it did they warm to everything about Wrexham. But it sure as shit was not their first, second or even third thought.

So you were not being negative then? Welcome to Wrexham on Disney+ will explain it all for you...

No. Attempted humour. Calm yourself. Am I the only one that finds a Hollywood a lister rocking up in Wrexham a little note worthy?

I did yes.

I did yes. Not sure that is what people are answering though, it was the "what were you thinking man" comment that is not clear as to what you mean

( I appreciate I may get to the bottom of the thread and find out )

Sure. Well I know what I meant.! For clarity. It's just a question to stimulate discussion. Some people got it. It seemed to challenge some. If it makes it easier for the remainder... Just remove the question and discuss how unusual and rare a move it is (or indeed anything else).

I don't see any other lower league football teams owned by Hollywood stars and so by definition it's very unusual. Football is a notoriously tough gig. Being a Hollywood film star is not a notoriously tough gig.

Anyway... I enjoyed the game and watching the crowd and fired it off spur of the moment.

Im a Chester (Wrexham's rivals) and i wish them all the success in the world. They are a big little club whose sussess is coming from a wave of postivity rather than spending. I think anything is possible at the moment and yesterday's result was down to bad luck on their behalf

Ryan Reynolds has certainly branched out from just Hollywood actor, he is a great business man. With many successful investments under his belt. Many of them being underdogs to begin with.

As said, this was sport fan Rob McElhenney's original idea, Ryan went in as just an investment and side project more than anything.

When you look past the general knowledge side of things and know more of Ryan Reynolds, it's less unusual than it first appears.

Removing the ? doesn't change it for me to be honest, especially when you add that to your defensive posts when people questioned it

It came across as what the f***is he doing this for rather than you thinking oh isn't this unusual
