So I've been wondering where the line between a high libido and sex addiction lies... Maybe if it becomes a problem and gets in the way of your normal life? Hmmm any thoughts?  |

If I don't keep mine in check I will do sex stuff all the time.. at one point I wasnt even doing my job right. I was to busy playing around..
I know I have an issue..and finally have some balance ( thanks to my last relationship) It is still there.. always niggling... but I find that if I only now have sex when I want too.. and make it a little more about me.. then its all good..
I definately think the line is when you forget to do something because your too busy having sex...or it really does mess up your day to day life.. |

Have a look at sex addiction on the net. Its a long road to a sticky end for many wives/girlfriends. Not an fun subject at all. Most dont accept it is true and it can end up with a total split of the relationship. There are forums where women post the most heart wrenching stories of losing their homes due to the man spending thousands of dollers evry month on prostitutes etc.

In my opinion it would like with other addictions - when you are neglecting friends, family, work, and other things just for a fix. The problem is that sex can be like a drug, with endorphin rushes and feeling good.
A possible addiction would involve some sort of comedown afterwards. Not post-meet blues but a desperation to get back to sex just to feel 'normal'.
I can get quite crabby when I go without sex for a while, but then my libido settles down and I'm OK. If I am trying too hard to get a meet then I tend to go offline and do something else. |

Thanks for your honesty, Cali... I can see how it could slowly creep up and get out of control... Or how sex could be used to escape from the real things going on in life. I don't think I've crossed this line yet, but something I read earlier made me think about it. Sorry that it's not the most lighthearted subject!
I think it applies to women too though, to the poster above (I forget your name as I type this, sorry!)... not just wives and girlfriends who get hurt x |

Me and Silk were talking about this the other day and he mentioned a docu he had seen. It mainly focused on guys but they were taking huge sexual risks and having sex paying for anyone male female and everything in between. For a lot of the guys it was about cumming and they did not care who that came from or the consequences just that they needed to cum. It took over there lifes lost jobs houses families etc....
Addiction be it for anything is not fun and i think alot of people have such a warped view of sexual addiction or dont believe its a serious issue.

True, didnt mean to exclude either sex, its just that the forum I saw was for women only so only had that to go on.
I think the worst part is when someone doesnt recognise or accept it, denial in any addiction is a massive problem. |

 Like any other addiction - it is a real problem when the desire overrules all reasonable thinking, affects your other relationships, your work or family and even knowing you are on a slippery path downwards, you can do very little about it. Sex addiction needs specialist treatment and there is a very good programm available in the Midlands. |

I know a lady like that, very sad. She would go out in very short skirts and no knickers and take guys outside the pub. She would do anything for sex, eventually she was admitted to a psyciatric ward, where she was given the right help and treatment. An addiction is an addiction and can be very dangerous |
