Okay we know people use hotlist in different ways, for some it's an avoid list so the following won't always apply however
How often do you check hotlist and friend list updates? Do you notice when somebody updates a status or their pics? |

I use my hot list as a "I'd like to meet this person". Once I have met them, they go to friends. If someone on the hot list doesn't respond to me or on talking the chemistry isn't there, they get removed.
I check both lists whenever I'm logging in, keep an eye on meets etc, especially if there's a chance to meet a hot list occupant! |

My hotlist is more of an "I wish!" list. So it's more a regular perv. Friends get looked at a fair bit.
Local updates is always a bit crazy. And then a browse through the forums with the less then frequent addition to a thread |

I check both lists - I like the updates and will check them most times I log on.
My hotlist is quite long: a mix of people I really want to meet and chat to, but others I don't and know I'll never meet, but just like their pictures! |

On both the Fabs I use Friends for actual contacts and I hide it (ie it's not for anyone who just asks), I generally use Hotlist for 'further interest' especially during Searches (and tbh maybe a couple of hotties too!), and I tend to use Block to 'ignore' people in the fully negative sense - or I'll leave a Private Note on their profile or perhaps archive certain messages so I don't forget them, ie if I feel that blocking is a bit rude in their case.
Not sure why anyone would use Hotlist as an 'ignore list' when we have Private Notes as it's so useful for other things I think (though only-sometimes do I actually look at the Hotlist updates I admit. It's worth doing though! Some great new pics and useful update information can be seen this way.)
