What is the point of winks? Fab should just get rid of them. It's basically saying, I like your profile but I'm too lady to write to you.

Do you mean lazy?

So few people use them it’s sometimes a more guaranteed way to get noticed. Obviously if the receiver looks at their winks of course! Which we do…and often respond to.

Oh, I disagree. I like a wink. I don't think they're lazy - I see them as a "I checked you out because I think you're hot" intro, but no pressure.

Gives them a chance to wink back, or not. But horses for courses.

I have never seen the point of winks, it just a lazy way to communicate. X

I don't see it as lazy, I see it as they are putting the feelers out there that they like us and we can have a nosey at their profile and if we do, we can spark a conversation up.

I think they do have some value. They are link smiling at someone in a pub. If the smile is returned then an introduction can be made. The issue is a lot of people ignore them so you don't know if your wink has been noticed and intentionally ignored or just ignored as a rule.

I use the wink function sometimes as a no thank you, if they have just winked then I may message but if I get winkers bingo (wink, friend request and a message) I won't reply

We quite like them. It's no more lazy than a no-reply to a message. You can check each other out and move on from there.

Also, I can't help but think it could be an easy way to cut down unwanted messages, if you couldn't message a profile if they hadn't winked back at you.

If someone winks at me I always send a message to say thanks. Sometimes it starts a conversation and we can go from there

I like eye-contact flirting, I see it as a virtual version of that.

I don't see why it's problematic. It's not uncommon for me to receive a wink, which to me is just an indication of interest or intrigue, perhaps an invitation to engage.

Could they just send a message, yes but does it matter, if the engagement becomes a positive one?

An informal way to gauge interest?, most guys know that women get multiple messages every day, so replying to all of them could be tedious and might be like a day job in some cases.

I have messaged a few guys in the past off the back of them winking me. I don't think it's lazy, it's a other way to get their profile seen without having to rely on a message. I don't always look at my winks, but I'd I do and I see a profile photo that is appealing I'll then take a peek at their profile , if it really good then I'll message.

I don't mind a wink and will retune them if something grabbed my attention.

I don't see the point of them from a silhouette profile with zero public pictures. Little to no bio information.

I like a wink - way of saying _ello and I like what I see, then if you get a wink back or return one it’s the start of a discussion

Quick easy and to the point ?

This was my thinking behind them too but now I'm thinking I should just be brave and send more messages

We use them to show interest. If we get one back we send a message. If not we move on.

I think they are a great way of just saying “hi we like your profile, if you like ours wink back and we can see where it goes”

They're a good way of showing interest without sending a message, gives them a option of looking and deciding if would like to talk or not.

I (AJ) don’t look at them and think Will only does occasionally so I’d say better to send a message. What happens if you wink and they wink back? Does anyone send a message or just keep winking

They also unlock mail filters so if, for example, you have blocked female couples from messaging, sending a wink to a specific FF profile will allow them to message you.

I use winks almost like a bookmark if I'm intending on contacting someone but, for whatever reason need some time.

I'm no good at remembering usernames so, having something I can quickly refer to is really helpful.

I don't use them.

If someone sends me one or could be weeks or months before I see it and even if I see it straight away and respond that's as fast as it ever goes because they don't follow the wink etiquette.

The person sending the original wink is responsible for sending a follow up message if that wink is responded to.

Otherwise the whole thing falls on its arse.

I have all email notifications turned off but every now and again I get an email to say I've received a wink but when I go to look there is nothing there and if I look at the profile named in the email there is nothing to say that they winked me.

I'm assuming that's either a glitch or they have removed it as soon as they sent it.
