A girl from Staffordshire, the county which shares it name with a popular dog, has eaten nothing but Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire Puddings for the last seven years and has used mesmerising therapy to break the cycle. Are Aunt Bessies better than home made. The originals were made in Yorkshire to pad out meals for the poor who could not afford much meat or vegetables which is a tradition that the poor from Yorkshire still adopt today. Over time, the recipe has been modified and refined and counties like Lancashire produce this staple, as good and probably better than their neighbors. But what is best, Bessie's or homemade

My late grandmother (from yorkshire, moved down to the midlands during the war as a land girl) would be turning in her grave listening to this conversation! She made the best yorkshire pudding I've ever tasted and ate that first as a starter (to fill you up) before having the traditional meat and two veg main. |

"I always used to eat homemade as a child, but as an adult I don't eat them at all because let's be honest here, it is shit food with almost no nutritional value whatsoever."
They have eggs in them? |

So does most cakes
Eating too much Yorkshire pudding was like walking around with a brick in your belly. It always felt like it took days to digest as well. All they do is make you fat. |

"If only those tory twats had not decided to relinquish food tech (or whatever it was) and practical lessons from schools, "aunt cunting bessies" would not exist "
And yes, it's open season on the politics front, so I will hijack any thread here and make it about anti thatcher topics if I can and feel that way... |

Been around for decades. Nice tribalism attempt though.

Make it make sense then. I was doing practical lessons at school in 96. Thatcher was long gone. Home Ecnomics and the like was known to be declining in the 70's before Thatcher and her centrist Conservative Party came to power.

Never had an aunt Bessie's, homemade all the way thank you.
I do 36 for 5 of us when we are having a roast. They usually have a few with jam in. I thought they were weird but I see other posters do it to. Strange people! |

home made but mine sink!! and become yorkshire frizbies - i dont know how they can produce them so cheaply - they cost less than buying the individual ingredients which is important to families on a tight budget |

You could make some and freeze them ,same as your roast ."
Not the same though, is it?
My freezer is already crammed with veg and other more suitable to freezing. |

I had food tech lessons in the noughties, not many I grant but they are still available. They were an option for the less academically inclined as well
