My train was cancelled this afternoon as there was apparently an unexploded WW2 bomb found near the tracks near Sheffield!

What are the best travel excuses that have delayed you in the past?

Coming back from holiday in Scotland, the train I was in was delayed at Newcastle due to Prince Charles apparently visiting nearby

How exciting!

A sinkhole opened up unexpectedly around the corner a few years ago... It wasn't very exciting, it was very inconvenient

Somewhere

Last week was sat on a train waiting on the driver to have his legally required 10min tea break... Not sure it classes as exciting though

Holibobs

A military missile convoy was both awesome and a bloody pain in the arse, delayed me by an hour as it was so big, we get loads of interesting stuff going up and down the A34

.

The train hit a bull. Not a cow. A bull.

I was on my way to drinks with a wonderful flower, really excited as it was the first time I would have seen her outside of a social.

Ended up between two random villages. In a train carriage for a couple of hours. With a dying phone. She believed me luckily. We're still friends to this day.
