I stir clockwise, but then, once all* the liquid is rotating add a anti clockwise stir to create eddys, break up the laminar flow and improve the mixing.
That or I leave it and let Brownian motion take care of the mixing.
*Yeah, I know that at the boundary layer some of the liquid may not be moving.

Hmmm….I’m sure there is some abstruse and intricate psychological connotation associated with one’s stirring direction propensity.
…..Sadly I have no idea what it might be but I’m sure there’s a science in there somewhere.
