Yes. I'm supposed to have finished it whilst in hospital but they deferred the last appointment. Now I can't get to the place. It seems silly. The way I feel, I feel like it needs to start all over again because everything has changed.

Not proper therapy no...

Just a few weeks of a counsellor and a few mindfulness classes.

You would be surprise how many people have had therapy.

You never know what a person has been through.

I have had physiotherapy and I am so very thankful to my physio. 11 months of treatment to help me recover from ACL & meniscus reconstruction. As well as the physical help my physio also supported me through a very emotional journey to full recovery. Something I am beyond grateful for.

I've been the person who's helped other people for my entire life really. It started when my parents divorced when I was about 5. What I'm finding is when I need some help and support, there's pretty much no-one there to reciprocate.

Every week for the last 5 years (give or take a few months)

Has it worked, well I'm still alive, it got me off the alcohol and gambling. But just not sure if its the meds or the therapy that's made it easier. Haven't tried to take my life since so there's another bonus.

I just hate the "stigma" like I tell someone im in therapy, or I have a mental health issue, and instantly feel looked down on for not being right.

Just going to put this here though.... Well done to those who've stepped up and said I need help I know it was probably hard, but you did it 3

Yes, had to find the right kind though. Got sent for a particular event but actually needed to talk about things more urgently but they weren't interested. It's a shame because if they had listened they would have realised how intertwined it all was but I left them and found someone else so have still never really dealt with what I was sent for in the first place.

Yep. I got myself six months of therapy after my ltr ended. It was my 40th birthday present to myself.

She was great. I've tried a few shorter stints since but didn't have a rapport with them at all. It really is about finding the right person.

There should be no stigma attached to therapy in this day and age. It's basic self care for a lot of people and life saving for some.

Absolutely,

And practiced it.

But meditation takes me much further (although therapy is still great if you click with the therapist, which I did).

Oh hell yeah. Not currently but have in the past. Doesn't work for everyone, or for every problem. If your struggling though Op it's a good starting point to finding a solution or coping mechanism.

Exercise and meditation/yoga are 2 others that immediately come to mind.

Yes, a few times when I was younger. Saw a child psychologist, therapist and behavioural specialist multiple times.

Also had mandatory drug counselling (due to being in supported housing at the time), but I didn't have a problem, so we just talked about my past and relationship with my mother.

Actually the best time I've ever spent with a counsellor. He was a really nice bloke and helped me realise quite a few things about myself and how I took the blame for many of my mother's wrongdoings.

With mental health playing such a large part of people's daily lives, it's important to make sure you're doing okay. If you're not, there is always help available and you shouldn't feel ashamed about asking for it.

Therapy combined with research have helped me through so many things and I'm better than ever.
