Either as a profile pic or on public pictures, obviously being recognised isn't an issue nut has it ever caused problems. I used to when I was first on here be the same. But 15-20 years later, having kids etc, I'm really reluctant. Trying to dort out pictures is all.
I never show my full face photograph. The current one is the first one in perhaps a very long time but I don't think that counts. It's quite obfuscated...I shall remove it forthwith!
