Slob day is good. I'd line up a bunch of things you meant to get knocked out over the year, get that done, then reward myself with some excellent beers from a local tap house (or whatever is a reward for you).
But not until I'd done the tasks on the list! |

Alternatively: one thing I've been working on is a series of letters to my kids. Just things I want them to know as an adult, if for whatever reason I don't get to be there.
Bit morbid I suppose, I could always burn them afterwards, but it focuses me on thinking through what my advice is rather than just shooting from the hip. |

I’d say enjoy the peace, the rest and the food. Take yourself out for some fresh air and a walk and spend a bit of time on Fab. You are never alone on Fab.
Don’t go getting into any dark headspace. Remember, it’s just another day and it will soon pass. Look forward to longer, brighter days ahead. In the meantime pamper yourself and give yourself some tlc.

"You are with your parents Christmas day. You aren't alone. True but I am off work until 2nd January and barring that one day I am alone. "
Why don’t you have any friends?? if I had friends I knew were spending Christmas alone. I will invite them round without hesitation, in fact they would be welcome this year. I have my mum over. |

That one day which is Christmas.
So technically not alone for Christmas.

"I see my mum on Christmas Day, but I am planning to spend all the other days finishing off bits of decorating, clearing out and cleaning, with a few films thrown in." I think that’s what I’ll do too. Will be avoiding Home Alone!!!

"OP, join in with the forums and we shall keep you company over the festive break. There's hilarity aplenty, quirkiness and tittle tattle to break the monotony. 🌲" I think I will do just that |

"I’m with you OP, this will be my first Christmas on my own. I don’t even have 1 decoration up this year. Going to be very strange that’s for sure" I didn’t put any up either. Have stayed away from alcohol to be honest because that can negatively impact mood.

One of my Muggle mates is in his own and absolutely loves volunteering at his Salvation Army centre helping out with Xmas lunches
He loves it and it’s his 5th year
We will see him Boxing Day
Perhaps helping to be involved may make it really memorable? |

"Any suggestions for a guy spending Christmas on his own? My son is away with my ex so barring Christmas Day with my parents I’m on my own this year. "
1. Christmas Eve invite all neighbours who are on their own to bring their own plate of food and spend a few hours together chatting and laughing.
2. Christmas Day you are at your parents.
3. Boxing Day invite a pensioner or two around for a meal provided by your good self.
4. 27th Go for an extra long walk around your town or city giving sandwiches or cash to about 5 homeless people.
5. 28th is Saturday. Take yourself to a pool for a swim. Then for a cheap coffee in Wetherspoons whilst doing the crosswords from the free Metro. In the afternoon clean out a cupboard you said you've been going to do for ages, then watch a film.
6. 29th is Sunday. Go to church. Even if you are not religious. Strike up a conversation with people there. In the afternoon phone 3 people you've not phoned for a long time and have good long chats with them.
30th is Monday. Go to the library and have a good read. Then go and ask an old neighbour if you can tidy their garden for them at no charge.
31st is New Years Eve. Spend the day walking and wishing everyone else a Happy New Year. Go to the cinema.
New Years Day ..... Read a book, watch a film , go for a coffee with a friend and ask them about the ONE thing they want to achieve in 2025. Then tell them your ONE thing. Have a bath and a spruce up and an early night cos it's work tomorrow innit. |

Thank you for that, that’s very kind and thoughtful. I’ll certainly take that advice on board 😊 |

Be my first xmas alone.
Not looking forward to it to be honest.
Not bothering with decorations or anything like that.
No tv to distract me (television!) no radio and intermittent slow wifi.
If I had the choice I'd be 2500+ miles east, crap living conditions and regular powercuts n airraids but a FANTASTIC circle of friends that are almost a second family. |

Yeah or just build friendships with people you already know so they think of you!
I’ve always had kids and families over but would never leave a friend alone at Christmas |
