It comes from the word "slattern" which meant, in the late Victorian/Edwardian period, a woman who kept an unclean or untidy home. I'm unclear when the shortened "slut" version came to refer to anything to do with sex. My Grandma would call it "slutty" if someone's house was unclean/cluttered and she genuinely did not mean anything whatsoever to do with their sex lives! |

I haven't got a similar mindset but in the late 60's and early 70's, some girls were labelled sluts but I don't remember an alternative label being applied to blokes. |

As you say, this sounds like hurt feelings. Being a male is a story of constant rejection: you have to learn to accept that is just how it is. Just because I fancy someone, it doesnt mean they have to reciprocate. The Andrew Tate model of the world is based on some idea the alpha male (which is a non-sense theory) and entitlement.
Lastly, he approached you (I assume) because of those attributes he desired and by turning him down you demonstrated you have standards.

In a way, he's right. We in this lifestyle are 'slutty' compared to the societal norms. We blur the boundaries of acceptable sexual behaviour, even if we are choosey AF.
There's a lot of misunderstanding, ignorance, prejudice and no doubt, jealousy surrounding the concept of this kind of freedom.
You'll find you're knocking on a locked door with this closed mindedness, so easier to walk away than educate, which is how the doctrine continues.

This does though lead into the topic of why gendered adjectives are so often derogatory towards women but not to men. Eg. (and lets do the big one first) calling someone a cunt is very nasty, there's just no way of making it a compliment. But saying that someone is a cock is merely mildly humorous, and can even be praise viz. "cock of the walk" meaning the big guy of the locality.
Bitch = scheming, nasty. But dog = virile. Absolutely anything that implies a woman who has lots of sex = an insult. But absolutely anything that implies a man who has lots of sex = a compliment.
