Having read a few threads over the years it would seem that some people’s expectations from our world matches that of the porn industry. My own experiences both as a single and with my wife have been very far from this.
What have your experiences been, like a porn movie or much more the real world? |

As an out and happy kinky person there’s definitely some truth in that Granny.
The messages I get are often at the more extreme level of kink and the abuse comes from folk upset that I’m not willing to act like their personal porn star style kink dispenser and fulfill whatever fantasy they’ve cooked up this week.

I was with you up to the last bit.
As someone who does like kink, I dislike when people call nonkink people boring for only that factor.
Vanilla though I don't mind. Vanilla is an excellent base for a whole wide world of things, but it's still lovely on its own. I like vanilla ice cream and I also like tiramisu ice cream, the latter still containing that element of vanilla.
I also spend a lot of just normal human time with my kink partners. We cuddle up to watch films, spend hours lazing and touching each other, talk about anything and everything, and have societies version of normal sex too. The depth of connection I have with the people in my life remains. It's not just about those short periods where we beat the life out of each other.
For the original question, probably for those who consume it excessively. It'll depend on their general worldview, how easily influenced they are and many other factors though. I think it's perfectly possible to watch porn objectively without it affecting your view of the world. But there are certainly a lot of people that confuse what happens in some porn with how real life connections work 💜 |

I've nothing against kink or those that take part in it and enjoy it....... it's the expectation from some, that anyone who doesn't indulge should then be labelled.
I'm neither one nor the other ( or should say wasn't )
Something in my psyche clicks at times and only lust or depravity would do it but there'd be no point in expecting it or demanding it from me as it seems to be more in the moment with me......... ( or was ) which is one reason I'm not a fan of 'likes' lists. It's instinctual, partner, mood and stimulant dependent. |

I think that summarises how things are for a lot of people.
Lots don’t have a ‘kink’ for want of a better phrase, but in a particular instance everything seems to align and you get caught up in that raw passion that just leads you somewhere. |

People are probably led by what they see but they also probably do what they like too, so I don't think so on the whole. Some of the meets I was having 5 or 10 years ago, you wouldn't believe. Porn (soc media wise) wasn't half as mainstream or popular and although I remember it being talked about as problematic addiction wise, I don't remember it having a following, it was more seen as a glamour/erotic, over the top Hollywood style. As a trans woman porn sends a very unrealistic image.

I've never been a fan of porn ive always preferred the amateur stuff.

I don’t think it affects the vast majority of the community here.
I think it has a negative effect on young people, eg boys expecting girls to act like their porn counterparts.
I have also heard from a friend who works in family services, that she has had boys telling her that the best way to make sure you don’t get someone pregnant is to only have anal sex! |

If people having sex in a stop start fashion is your thing and if a guy looking like he's got cat hair on his tongue is your thing I'll give you a muffin.
