Official Retirement

By (user no longer on site) OP    25 weeks ago

I hereby serve my notice on officially retiring from the forums

I am an often returner over the years and over the last few months have been struggling.

Allowing the opinions of others to affect me, most of which I’ll never meet or them want to meet me and I have also compromised when meeting people. Not in a negative way but chasing when there’s nothing to chase

It is easy to blame the site or the people on it but the only person I can blame is ME and that makes me rethink everything

So rather than leave the site I am retiring from the forums, I may still read them but no longer create posts or interact

I genuinely wish you all the happiness you can find, don’t let the opinions of others detract from who you really are and most importantly be happy

Remember you are good enough

Moving Around the Midlands

What’s going on this week

First sprout unlos and now Jack quitting the forums!!

I managed to speak to sprout before he deleted his telegram and he admitted he was struggling with life in general.

I hope you are in a better place after your decision OP. With 35,000 people online fab can be a lonely place. Here if you need a chat.

You make some good points OP. Especially with reference to chasing where there is nothing to chase.

Dubai & Nottingham

You should at least throw a waffle party or a jazz egg buffet. People could bring quotes of your favourite sayings or something and have a little dance and then you could go…..

Around 80% of communication is non-written -so basically on the forum we lose essential clues such as; body language, gestures, facial expressions, and voice.

Its easy to read significance and meaning into the words we read - but we have a choice and the power to decide how to to respond or react

.... ultimately the person most impacted by your reaction is you. Why let yourself be triggered, especially if you'll never spend time with these people.

Walk away for a bit, reason it out... maybe that person poorly expressed themselves, maybe you overread and gave it the wrong significance, maybe they are looking to get a reaction, maybe they just have a different learned experience to you.

Can you flip it positively. Do you even need to respond?

Breath it out... it's just words, on the internet, quickly replaced and long forgotten by most

What I was thinking but wouldn't have articulated quite as well.

Good luck out there.

Same. I don't comment on half the threads on here (I suspect like most), it doesn't mean what people contribute isn't decent... good, bad or other. It's understandable if you need space, everyone does at some point.
