Songs with the greatest guitar solo?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Which songs have the most 'stand out' guitar solos for you?
The song might not even be that great, but the solo might be the best you've ever heard? ... or... the song is building up to the guitar solo which is the best part and most memorable for your ears etc
So I ask you all this... which are your favourites?
A few car examples to get the ball rolling:-
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird
Smashing Pumpkins - Soma
Eagles - Hotel California
All That Remains - Six
Let's go music lovers! |

Prince slaying it at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
---
The back story to this is that George Harrison was posthumously being inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and as a tribute, Tom Petty, Jeff Lyne and others are playing Harrison's song - "While my guitar gently weeps".
Prince, for most of the song is in the background just playing along, letting the others do their thing.... until it's his time to show the world what a great guitarist he is.... and God damn it is a thing of beauty.
I'm not sure I can post the youtube link here but if you search: "2021 Remaster While My Guitar Gently Weeps Prince" you'll be able to have a listen. |

"It's Comfortably Numb
This. Not technically the greatest but every note is where it should be and the way he plays over the chord changes is perfection."
As Dave Mustaine put it, Gilmour can do more with one note than other guitarists with the whole fret board.

We heard that was his last performance and the guitar he threw into the crowd after it was never seen again. |

Is that the one where at the end he chucks his guitar in the air and it never comes down? Prince defying the laws of gravity |

Gypie Mayo Take a tip, Dr Feelgood.
Albert Lee on Sweet Little Lisa by Dave Edmunds.
James Burton, What'd I say by Elvis 1969.
James Burton Johnny B Goode Elvis Vegas Album.
The funky guitar solo on Sheila E's Save the People, it could be Prince doing it.
I didn't go for the more obvious heavy stuff because there's alot of effects rather than playing involved. |
