Ever heard of bread crumbing

“Giving just another attention to keep you interested”

In my time it was known as “stringing you along”

Who the fuck comes up with this shit

Rant over sorry

The phrase or the action?

Languages changes. Neither string nor breadcrumbs are literally involved but people usually know what's meant

I believe Hansel and Gretel coined that term to promote themselves after their fables were banned from mainstream education, deemed to be too disturbing for our progeny!

I’m more annoyed that people do it than I am that there’s a term for it.

If people know what you are talking about does it really matter how it is described? Language changes over time. Pick up a collection of Shakespeare's work. That is still English, only we don't speak like that anymore.

We don’t but I can still understand what they are saying.

If someone used the phrase stringing them along, I would no what was meant.

If someone said bread crumbing, I wouldn’t have known what they were on about had it not been for the above explanation.

People who wish to ‘update’ language, should be prepared for people to either not understand or misunderstand.

‘I can still understand what they are saying’

But not everyone can.

First time I read Chaucer at school I genuinely felt like it was another language.

The point is that people might not always get it, but a willingness to learn helps.

There are quite a few modern phrases I don't understand. I find Urban dictionary helpful or just asking.

I think most people know what 24/7 means but I remember having to explain it to my mum

Carlisle usually

Bread crumbing to me is liking a post to signal boost it to more people.

In terms of relationships, don't know it, but I'd likely sack that shit right off 💜
