At the risk of not appearing to be pc,and all that 'shit '..is it just me that finds it hard to find a female 'celebrity ' that's genuinely funny. As for that Lucy Jones, just being a female and having a disability doesn't make her funny, for me it says 'look at me I've a disability and I'm wonderful, and don't disagree other wise you won't be popular. Aren't all comedians saying "look at me"?
Funny women e.g.
Jenny Eclair
Katherine Ryan
French and Saunders
Lou Sanders
Bridget Christie
Lucy Porter
Victoria Wood (RIP)
Sarah Silverman
Aisling Bea
Joan Rivers (RIP)
and many, many more. |

I hate saying this as a woman but there are not that many female stand up comedians I find that funny. There are plenty of female actresses, writers and 'celebrities' that I enjoy but stand ups in particular I don't enjoy that many. One of my absolute favourite comedy actresses and writers is Julia Davies. There are funny women out there. |

Humour is a matter of taste but off the top of my head: Sarah Millican, Riki Lindhome, Tina Fey, Fern Brady..
..of course a lot of older people are sort-of programmed to think "funny" = "man", and most female comedians will be younger and harder for them to relate to anyway. |

Do you mean Rosie Jones? She's as funny as toothache. |

"I really don't get the hype with Sarah Millican never found her all that funny 🫣" ,maybe it's because she's one of the best of a bad bunch,.as I said before I find it difficult to find a decent standup female comedian that's popular not just because they're female or have a disability...but because they're actually funny.

We went to The Stand comedy club in Edinburgh, Jay Lafferty was brilliant (though fairly unknown). We've seen Barbara Nice who was funny (again not well known). Nothing Katherine Ryan has ever said have we found funny. |

Rosie Jones' performance on Taskmaster changed my mind on her and I found her hilarious. She may not work as a stand-up or on panel shows but she is funny in the right environment.
Aisling Bea, Katherine Ryan, Lucy Beaumont, Fearn Brady and Bridget Christie are all hilarious |

There’s plenty of women celebs that I find funny.
Tiffany Haddish went on an all time run for a good few years. Issa Rae is another one. I find Awkwafina funny. I grew up watching shows like Ab Fab with my mum and French and Saunders. It’s ok if you just don’t tend to find it relatable or funny. But funny celeb women exist out there. |

Someone already mentioned her.
But honestly I can really only think of Tina Fey, she's not a stand up comedian but she's extremely funny, highly intelligent and a great writer.
There's plenty of " funny " women to be fair there's not that many great male stand ups these days either.

My girlfriend is a comedian so I'm biased but yes, there are plenty of good female comedians.
Also this is something you should never say to a female comedian. Nothing makes my gf more mad than when someone says to her "I normally don't find women funny but you were really good" |

This is true, there's not many new comedians in general I find particularly funny these days |

I’m a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe and have seen some great female comedians but it’s all subjective isn’t it.
Sara Pascoe in a very small venue eventually up to a large one, bloody hilarious.
Jen Brister , fabulous.

Humour is subjective anyway, in my opinion their are very few funny comedians around now that includes males also.
I'm old school so i would probably say French and Saunders
Victoria wood, Caroline Ahearne Kathy burke joan rivers. Were and are talented and extremely funny people. |

"to be fair there's not that many great male stand ups these days either.
Sean Locke was the last funny man 😔"
Go see Gary Delaney- proper one line gags, seen him several times, usually come out with stitch from hyperventilating due to laughing |

There's quite a lot of comedians who I don't find funny or get their particular sense of humour- or they base their act purely on one thing (eg race, or religion). That's both male and female comedians.
Maybe it's a sign of the times and there's a lot you probably can't say these days without offending anyone so a lot of comedy material may have had to be "dumbed down" to fit in. |

He's married to Sarah Millican I believe.

I find very few comedians funny, men or women. Of the ones I do I'd say the split is about even between the two. Although I've never seen a male comedian as funny as Patricia Routledge in the 'Kitty' sketches, written by Victoria Wood. |

I feel a bit out of it, as I've lost my annual Edinburgh Fringe outings .
Joan Rivers was phenomenal, perhaps one of the all time best.
Jenny Eclair had some points when she was very funny but that was her earlier work |

It's weird because I find very few stand-ups funny but seeing comedians riff with each other on panel shows or sketch shows really makes me laugh |

Is that partly because those shows are very heavily edited to cut out any weak material? Very different skill having a few good lines and banter with others to holding a crowd solo for an hour or so. |

All of these are great. None are household names, but all are worth looking up, and even better going to see live.
There's a massive amount of talent out there on the circuit.
Dawn Bailey,
Diane Spencer,
Harriet Dyer,
Hayley Ellis,
Kate Martin,
Jenny Hart,
Jules O'Brien,
Lindsey Santoro,
Lou Conran,
Maxine Wade,
Nina Gilligan,
Tal Davies, |

Yeah, I think that could be it. It's not just the editing but I suppose panel shows are meant to be a laugh a minute whereas a lot of stand-ups can be more story driven leading to a punchline. It's almost a sort of instant gratification thing |

Maya Rudolph, Sarah Silverman and Shappi Khorsandi haven't been mentioned yet I don't think.
It is weird that women, people of colour and disabled people are always perceived to be token by a large part of the audience. As if it's not possible that they actually deserve the platform because they're talented. It's embarrassing that so many white guys are so fragile that they believe that. |

Different skills but no less amusing in my opinion
Some comedians are off the cuff funny others need a script. |

Being female and having a disability makes me fucking hilarious, tbf.
Also please do at least bother to get names right before you stick the boot in.
Anyway, that Len Evans chap. Never did get the hype around him Nor Michael McUmpire either. |

What, all of them? Individuals yes I can understand. There's all manner of male comedians I find as funny as toothache. But it would be ridiculous to say that no men are funny. It's equally ridiculous to say no women are funny. Or no disabled people (we're all gender neutral btw, no-one seems bothered by gender when there's some other defect ) |

Sure, but there's a difference between "I don't find person funny" and "I don't find group funny", isn't there.
And it IS weird how those groups are always "anyone except white men", right. |

There are no current comedians in the aforementioned categories that I find funny to a level that has entertained me.
There have been in the past, two of the categories have yielded what I believe to be two of the greatest of all time but sadly they are no longer alive, I dare say in the future there maybe more, but not currently.
At no point have I ruled out the potential for finding any of these funny but currently there is no one.
I find it silly to suggest that someone is in some way ‘fragile’ because they don’t share another person’s choices. |

I find very few modern day "comedians" male or female worthy of a smile let alone a laugh. Back in the day there were loads of stand up comics that were funny but very few female ones, their delivery and timing just doesn't seem right. |

Just FYI, the last winner of the Edinburgh Fringe award was a female comedian who hasn't appeared on TV.
Just to reiterate that mainstream TV hasn't no idea what's going on in the real comedy circuit.

I don't know of any female comedians that I particularly enjoy.
But, I also don't have much interest in the male ones.
I do love Daniel Sloss. But he's the first I've been seriously into since Bill Hicks when it comes to standup.
There's plenty of comedians I wouldn't turn off as background noise, but very very few I would bother to actively watch 💜 |

There's loads, Aubrey Plaza is hilarious. There have been for years. Miranda Richardson in Blackadder as Queen Elizabeth - brilliant.
Comedy is subjective of course, but if you think women aren't funny, that sounds like more of a you problem. |
