Speed dating, mixers & singles events were big business back in my day. But I just read an Evening’s Standard article that said that male attendance at these events has had a massive downturn in recent years.
One lady interviewed said she left an event early, because it was 90% women.
Why do you think that is? |

I actually know the answer to this because I know a couple of people that run those events and they always struggle to get enough men at them often having to cancel because the ratio of men women is too low.
Numbers of men to women on online dating is high 2,4 even 10x men to women physically banks it’s the opposite, because they are not really single |

Just about any singles event where people are meeting in person , paid or free events, but Typically, they will cancel them if they don’t get close to 50-50. |

I've been to a few socials, most of which said they had filled their single male allocation, sometimes long before the event was even announced in the forums.
I have never seen any event that had more than 10 percent single male attendees. At least 60 or 70 percent were single women and 20 to 30 percent couples.
I accept that there are always those who buy a ticket and don't turn up but in a venue that was set up for 100 people and almost every seat was taken I couldn't see much of a dropout. |

Because the women are so up themselves and expect the men to be exceptional because they all think they are a 10/10 . Anyone below them gets ridiculed on other media site ( as stated above tiktok) Look on YouTube , you'll see it's happening there in the USA. |

So the rest don't get a look in so what the point.
Might well go out and enjoy ourself and put ourself first.
Waste of time chasing women who are looking for the Impossible.

Never been to one, but it all feels like a job interview all around and who likes them. If you can't provide them with that dopamine hit or the specifically right compliments that the 500 guys who are dm'ing her on an app right at that moment are, you're fucked (not literally). Smartphones basically, if all the fish get sick then it's the tank water. |

Oh no that's disappointing to hear, me and a female friend has decided to try speed dating this year, we saw it on Groupon , I do love a bargain.

When I've been in social situations similar to that at bars, clubs etc., women always go for men who are taller, louder or better looking than me.
If I'm on an app or website at least I can get my point across with a nice message or well written profile before getting chucked on the reject pile. |

I'm not tall (5'9"), and I'm far from Brad Pitt in the looks department  But I am confident to speak with anyone out in the real world (had a great conversation on the train home from London only yesterday, with a woman from Chorley), and do really well in 'vanilla' pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes, cinemas etc. There's just so much pressure loaded on to 'The Dreaded Single Guy' in the swinger lifestyle! Look at it as as 'Them problem', not a 'Me problem'. Live YOUR best life, and others will be attracted to you naturally  |
