"Instead of using a word like Stephen every time I talk to or about you, I use a little shortcut word like "he". He is an example of a pronoun."
Can it be used to talk about things or just people? |

Hi, Steven. They are basically words used to describe either individuals or groups of people, rather than using their name or names. If you're a bit quirky or like to be mysterious, "they" or "them" seem popular. |

Yes. In a language like English, we usually use "it" for things, or "they" in the plural. (Although when we don't know if someone is a boy or a girl, we use they for that one person. That goes back to Shakespeare, which you'll read when you go to bigger school). |
